Until the next episode,
I believe X actually saves Nice before he gets fully consumed by the fear value — not telling him to kys.
Look at this transition first.
Do you know how terrifying and dangerous this WHOLE color scheme is?
It’s so different from the other heroes who got infected by the fear value. The color changes so fast, and the background sound is so destructive (I don’t even know how to explain it). It’s not just “fear,” it’s like his whole existence is being rewritten.
Nice doesn’t even know what he’s afraid of. He keeps questioning why he wants to become a hero… until the fear value tries to hijack his soul with that rapid color transition.
And he tries to breathe… to calm himself, but his fear value just won’t stop.
Even as his fear value grows worse, trying to completely hijack his soul…
This scene reminds me of Van Gogh’s paintings during his illness. I forget the exact name of Van Gogh’s condition, but in this scene it feels like Nice is even starting to forget everything—including his own identity. Look at how faceless he becomes, and how the colors blend together… I can’t quite explain it, but if you see it from the perspective of brush strokes, it makes sense.
Before the fear value fully overcame him and took control—before he lost everything about himself…
Suddenly—snap!
The destructive sound disappears. The chaotic color scheme returns to normal. And most importantly… Nice is back in the 3D reality, just like in episode 22.
I've explained why Nice in 3d reality is so important in this post. In summary: Nice is the only one who actually witnesses how X’s power works.
Yes, he’s on the building where he jumped off—but through Nice’s point of view, do you realize what he’s actually looking at?
IT’S SUNSET! Such a beautiful sunset…
After experiencing fear value like that—like mania and depression crashing together—and then suddenly everything calms down with just a snap… and what you see next is a beautiful sunset… it feels so much more like saving than telling someone to kys. 😭😭
X didn’t come directly to Nice (maybe) because he knew Nice needed his time alone to process his condition. He didn’t attack him. He just let Nice see the sunset and calm himself.
Yes, after that, Nice still chooses to kill himself. With all the fear value trying to hijack his soul and his mind in turmoil and manipulation he gets, it’s understandable. However, the important point is that Nice remains in 3D reality—and X is still observing him.
I don’t want to speculate too much on whether X saved him or let him have a peaceful rest by dying (like a form of legal euthanasia). X is the type who might allow that if he thought it was merciful. But what really makes me curious is… why did X need to stop Nice from being fully consumed by fear value first?
With all of Nice’s story… somehow he’s the only hero who can really be compared to Zero, even though his power isn’t the strongest. His perfection, his followers, his fragile mental condition—all of it. It’s like he’s more “Zero” than anyone else.
X once said that Zero has never perished… so what if Nice is Zero himself—either reincarnated, or maybe Zero has simply been de-aged into Nice?
I’ve always been curious about that person who has the same accent as Nice—white hair, black-grayish eyebrows, and blue eyes tones.
But if that person is Zero, and Nice is somehow Zero himself… then honestly, X choosing to let Nice die is something I can appreciate.
With all the manipulation he has endured—especially if Nice is truly Zero—he deserves a proper, peaceful ending. I just want to make sure that X gives him a proper funeral, a real goodbye.
wreck better watch out cuz im bouta steal his man
i mean what
The fact that Shang De not only abused (physically and mentally) and groomed him, made him feel worthless, but he also corrupted or took away from Nice all the things that he loved and that made him happy; his dream to be a hero, his idol Smile, his lover and best friend Wreck and even his passion for ballet/dancing.
Nice is truly one of, if not the most, tragic character of To be Hero X and I fear this is not even the last drop.
"I'm your knight in this shining armor
I was born to be in your color."
This part of the song always makes me think of Nice and him being covered in blood (because it's Wrecks color) because it is the color every person has and he is everyone's knight. And just, the red on white, the tainting of the perfection is so mwah chefs kiss, you get me?
For the first few times I always heard "to be in your corner" which, also works but, oh the color one. It makes me have thoughts. I have another picture I hope to finish eventually with the same theme because it just, eats my brain.
Went a little bonkers with the color gradients here and have like 10 different versions of this pic so I might turn it into a gif. We'll seeeee turned it into a gif 🥳
