He had grabbed an assortment of things that morning, more or less in a rush because he had slept in. All in the typical paper bag which was hastily grabbed a moment after he had kissed his fiancée a farewell and gone out the door.

The gig itself was, fortunately, very chill. Just a cafe with a casual, calm vibe that he appreciated. Moreover, it seemed he, his guitar and a few acoustic covers were a hit. So much so, he chatted with a few patrons after promising to come back at a later date to do it all again before excusing himself for lunch.

It would have made more sense for him to eat something from the gig in question, but not one to waste food he opted for his little lunch in a park nearby. Though the cherry on top was undoubtedly the note he stumbled across. Even when she wasn't here Mellie made his heart skip a beat.

In response, he sent a text with a big, goofy smile on his face.

"Oh, you are very pretty, miss!"

Standing in front of Mellie was... another Mellie, grinning from ear to ear as she looked herself over and spun in a circle a couple times.

Which started out by her gently placing a bouquet of flowers into his hands at breakfast. Wasn't the first time she'd got some for him from the greenhouse right outside their flat. The rest of the day they'd spent wandering around London, going in various little spots together and truly enjoying each other's company. Hand in hand, as lovers do, the necklace sporting her engagement ring swinging ever so slightly as they moved in unison down the pavement. "Have you had a good birthday so far, my love?" As if she even had to really ask, but truly wanted to know as her gaze shifted towards him, eyes so full of love for him.

Maurice was never one to make a big deal out of his birthday. Frankly, as long as he had good company, and could be spoiled with good food, he was happy. So spending a day with Mellie milling around and doing whatever may have caught their eye in the moment was, in his mind, perfection.

The flowers were a plus, and he had smiled more than he should have upon receiving them. He would definitely be picking out a well-worth vase for them later.

That mood, that joy, continued the day through. Hand in hand with Mellie and they went here and there. A little cafe for drinks as they walked, a few novelty shops and places odder still. Simple, but enjoyable. A fact that showed on his face, in the way those dark eyes were twinkling, especially when he looked at Mellie.

Her question made him laugh, in a good way, and an arm was purposefully used to draw her closer as it rested along her shoulders. The opportunity was used to plant a kiss on the side of her head before he spoke.

it's one of those evenings where zora is feeling a little bit restless, a little bit ... strange. they don't want to go into the details of it all but hearing someone else's voice might not be a bad idea after a long day.

and so they just kind of casual give mellie a call just to see if she answers.

they wait, they wait - aware of the possibility that they might have to leave a message.

but when they do hear her voice on the other end of the line, z smiles.
