“Anyone?” He leans back in his chair, folds his arms over his chest and turns his gaze to the ceiling, thinking it over for a long moment, his mind only on the potential for chaos and destruction. A slow, crooked grin curls at his lips. His head snaps forward. He leans in slightly. “Who better than the President? A day’s all I’d need, right? Start off with some tweets, just rapid fire that shit and nobody would even question it, would they? Then maybe I veto some bill my own party was excited for, can’t just let one side of the aisle have all the fun. Executive order troops to attack our closest allies, just for shits. Draw mustaches on all the pictures of former presidents, maybe go to the store or something just so everyone in D.C. gets stuck in motorcade traffic. And then I finish the day off with another blast of tweets before I hit that big red button. Boom.”

Christina’s World: Is there anything you long for?

“Perhaps normalcy?” Eydie forced a sweet smile onto her face — something that she was a near-professional at by this point — and continued, “I thought that I wanted to do what was always set out for me, but I just… I just can’t make myself want to have that whole ‘husband and four kids’ kinda life.” A scared look crossed her features when she said that; when she really thought about it and tried to imagine herself in that position. “Maybe I’ll live in the woods with a good girl friend or something.”
