    Artoo  rolled  down  the  street  with  his  scanners  out ,    and  Luke  turned  to  the  Marshal  he’d  been  directed  to .        ❝      where  does  a  child  hide  in  a  small  town  like  this ?      ❞

"Did I, ah . . . have I interrupted something?" The word stakeout comes to mind, which he supposes is better than having accidentally attacked the man's friends or allies. "Were you following them?"

"What was that for?" it was a kiss, he understands a kiss, and he was certainly not upset about it, just a little confused.

“you ever been to yavin iv?” he asks, head titlted slightly to the side. it’s a non sequitur, not relevant to anything they need to do here. but poe figures they both need a distraction right now. it’s only going to get colder.

        ❝      you're not exactly doing the best job at convincing me, Cobb.      ❞ a bit of unease bled into the blonde's tone as he spoke, as much as he wanted to trust the older man on this, some things were hard to forget for the Tatooine native, no matter how much time it had been since he'd last spent enough time on the planet to worry about the other natives. and considering what happened the last time he crossed paths with the raiders, Luke was more than a little wary, his head even throbbed with phantom pain as he recalled that day. taking a deep, steadying breath, Luke calmed himself as he took in a bit more of the situation. the air didn't hold the same tension he felt when two people at odds with one another were in the same room. Cobb himself truly didn't seem concerned. curiosity slowly began to bleed through the concern.        ❝      something's different, they feel . . . camaraderie? did something happen between them and the town?      ❞

        ❝      you say that like it'd be a bad thing.      ❞ Luke teased, lips tickled by the whiskers of Cobb's chin beneath them as he spoke. fingers play with the smattering of hair on the other man's chest as he pressed close. normally, Luke was an early riser and preferred to start his day right away, old farming habits that never left him, but today, the Jedi thought he wouldn't mind a lazy day. if only to delay the inevitable. ❝ i think that deputy of yours could hold the fort for a little bit. ❞

❝      some might not call it that.      ❞ by some, he meant his sister. Leia would call him reckless and stupid, Han might be inclined to agree, depending on what it was despite knowing that he's just as bad as him. Luke gave the older man a lopsided grin as he placed the blaster he stole off of one of the spice runners down. ❝      thanks, though. it's not my first time dealing with people like them. i used to work in Mos Eisley.      ❞

A BRIGHT SMILE ADORNED THE JEDI'S FEATURES, bright as the Tatooine suns that hung in the skies above. Cobb's facial hair tickled against his forehead where he kissed him. his head was tilted back and a soft hum left him from the back of his throat.       ❝      how sweet of you, Marshal.      ❞
