stede and ed go to barbados to visit the kids, they're sitting up talking and drinking one night with mary and doug, and stede (who's tipsy) says something soppy like "of course, you haven't really made love 'til you've done it on the ocean." ed just grins ('cause it's true), mary makes that face and says "right! time for sleep!", meanwhile doug's leaning forward and saying "tell me more"
