Klaus is incredibly selective on who he chooses to turn. To him, being a vampire is a privileged, a gift. One that should not be taken lightly. In the books he has vampireĀ āservantsā which are said to be his darlings, his little family. This made me think that Klaus doesnāt just turn people for the sake of turning people. He has to have some sort of appreciation or connection and maybe some sort of admiration with someone in order to turn them. To him, they have to be worthy enough to share his blood.Ā
This also ties into the fact that there are so few vampires in the series, because Klaus along with Katherine, killed half of them. Katherine most likely did it because Klaus was doing it and well, why not. But I feel Klaus did it deliberately. Specifically those whom he did not directly and intentionally share blood with and those who arenāt even apart of his bloodline. He doesnāt consider them worthy of appreciation and loyalty, so why have a bunch of vampires running around.
Long story short, if Klaus is going to turn someone himself, there is a reason as to why he is doing so.
