                     Most travelers to Sevii came for the luxury of a tropical island vacation, but to the locals who had to deal with the archipelago’s lack of an overarching infrastructure firsthand there wasn’t much luxury to be had. Their days were spent in largely the same way; hiking, fishing, soaking in the hot springs, walking along the shoreline. Celio did not mind the daily repetition. The weeks came and went like the tides, ebbing and flowing against the sand, and the programmer hardly ever thought on the monotony. Instead he turned to the outdoors whenever he needed a break, walking barefoot through Treasure Beach with a plastic pail in one hand and an old-model PokéNav in the other, using the Dowsing Machine function to poke through the sand while his Hoppip drifted lazily through the air behind him riding the sea breeze. The wind was sweet, the sounds of the ocean were soothing, the sun was shining; it was an all around lovely day to go poking around for pearls.

                      Most travelers to Sevii didn’t typically know about Treasure Beach. One Island served as little more than an entryway for most into the deeper islands of the archipelago coming in from Kanto, and the beach was on a smaller island separated by a narrow waterway from the main one. Celio was so startled to find a human face he couldn’t recognize on the shoreline that he nearly dropped his pail of pearls.

                 By the time Azelle is finally ‘ summoned ’, plenty of people he knows are already here.  Lord Sigurd, his brother, and even Lady Tailtiu are present, along plenty of other familiar faces Azelle recognizes.  Though he has no trouble introducing him to the multitudes of strangers that are also present, he tends to hover by those he knows.  It’s the closest thing to a break he can find in this situation.

                  He thinks he’s embarrassed himself when he tried introducing himself to Lord Ike, so one of those breaks is what he needs now.  Luckily for him, it feels as though Arvis isn’t as adamant that Azelle continue his studies here, so the one barrier that may have prevented him from spending time with his brother ( and the secondary barrier that consisted of Arvis’ job ) is gone.

                  There’s an empty feeling in the air when Azelle finally finds Arvis that isn’t usually there.  He shrugs it off as lingering nerves and wastes no time in appearing at Arvis’ side, grinning sheepishly up at his older brother.

                  ❝ Hey, Arvis, can I try reading Valflame again?? ❞  He can’t read it, and they both know it, but he’s tried a few times before.  Even if the words seem to dance on the page in no way another tome had, sometimes he feels like he can make out lines of the text.  At the very least, being Fjalar blooded means, it seems, that Valflame’s presence helps whenever he’s anxious.

It’s dark. Where is Uncle Bantu….? Grandfather Gotoh…? Xane…?

It’s so dark. She’s cold. She’s angry - she doesn’t know why. Tiny hands tug at limp hair, and she pulls the pointy headdress from her hair and flings it. It clatters loudly, and she flinches, immediately looking towards the sound.

A knock. Another knock. The door creaks open. She opens her mouth to ask who it is, but only a growl leaves her throat. What’s happening to her? WHAT’S HAPPENING?

“I’m so sorry, Lady Tiki.”

There’s a glint of metal- what? Why? Why why why no no she’s a good girl don’t--

She sits up with a sharp gasp, hair damp from sweat and body cold in the night air. The nightmares are a common occurance, that’s not the problem.

But she’s never had this one before. Maybe the recent relinquishment of the Starsphere - no, it’s Azure now, isn’t it? - has contributed to it. Her hands tremble, and she looks around her space atop the Tree. “Xane...Xane, are you here…?” Her voice shakes, and her eyes well. The male manakete has been around, but the divine dragon princess never knows when he is there or not, not when he’s never wearing his own face.

tbh if it’s made of metal it’s gonna be hella slow and then it’s the whole thing about being unwieldy against axes who can get in close, so I figured both what you said and the breaking em thing apply

also… I’ve always assumed it was only the head of the lance that was metal and the rest was wood but I could be wrong about that, I’m having trouble researching it

i... can’t say i can get behind the whole ‘if it’s made of metal it’s gonna be hella slow’ deal tbh, they can very well be made of a decently light metal since they don’t need to be sharp or pointy except at the tip, and even if they were, they can still very well be less metal overall than a decently sized sword which isn’t necessarily ‘hella slow’. ofc if someone is wielding a lance specifically for the light weight/speed they’d go for something more fragile, but tbh imo anyone who wields a physical weapon has at least enough strength to be able to lift a metal lance easily enough to not be slowed down by its weight, if that makes sense ?

When Julius is angry — truly angry — he typically deals with things by exterminating whatever it is bothering him. When he suspected that Reinhardt had feelings for Ishtar he didn’t bother simply trusting that she wouldn’t leave him for the general; he forbade her from ever speaking to him again alone on the threat of slaughtering him.

To quote the wiki on his personality:

His persona from then onward ( after his possession ) appears to be based on his own with his sense of self retained, as Loptyr’s possession of him was apparently not complete until shortly before his death, but strongly influenced by the malevolent whims of Loptyr’s influence on him. In this state, he was a highly charismatic figure, masking a cold exterior apathetic of the needs of others (except perhaps Ishtar), possessing immense cruelty, favouring abusing those in opposition to or of lesser power than him including his own father, and of having no tolerance for events not proceeding according to his desires.

Julius has a no-tolerance policy for things not going his way. He deals with anger by lashing out with violence, and when he wants to wind down from something infuriating he does it by torturing and tormenting everyone around him. He’s the type to quite literally go around pulling teeth and nails if he can get away with it.

                                           Loptyr prefers to prey on children.

In the days of the old Loptyrian Empire Loptyr always took his Galle while they were young. Their physiologies more closely resembled those of manaketes than those of humans; individuals with major Holy Blood otherwise appeared perfectly human for the most part, give or take their clearly inhuman levels of strength or intellect or vitality, but the presence of Loptyr’s soul in his possess-ee’s body triggers a change. They’re descendants of dragons, after all — perhaps not directly, but it’s inarguable that they aren’t entirely human to be able to use the dragonstones bound within their weapons, and Loptyrian blood has much more obvious physical affects on the people that carry it than the other bloods generally do. If he takes them while they’re young and still growing he has time to mould their bodies a bit to make them a smidge less human and a smidge more comfortable for himself, even if they invariably suffer physically from all the inevitable illnesses that comes with both growing in a manner that they weren’t meant to at birth and the fact that major Loptyr carriers typically were just sickly people.

He owes his pointed teeth and ears and eyes and the frequency of his seizures to it. Julius is a thin, waifish, sickly little boy. He’s still a child ( or a young teenager, at the very oldest ) when he dies in the game. NPCs describe his eyes as hypnotic and discuss people leaving their homes and families on pilgrimages to the capital to worship him only to never return. Teeny puts it well:

In hindsight, he had been lucky the Deliverance visited his village in his time of need, and even moreso for Valentia’s rulers to let him accompany them on their trip to Archanea. At last he was falling into the grand scheme that fate had planned for him - that is, to study among scholarly minds in one of the world’s finest schools for the arcane arts.

Or at least, it seemed that way until he bade his comrades farewell and set off in search of Khadein on his own while they explored the depths of a ruined labyrinth. The same fortuitous turn of events that allowed him to join Alm’s army also prevented him from trying to find Delthea on his own. Luthier shuddered to think about what such an attempt would have been like, because frankly... his navigation skills left quite a bit to be desired. It was within days he found himself utterly lost on unfamiliar soil, but a flash of red on the horizon caught his eye, pulling him out of his hopeless reverie.
