Once Elsa heard Annelise's cry for her mother, the Queen instantly got up from her bed and walked through the hallway towards her room. "Did the thunder scare you?" Elsa asked poking her head through the door. Seeing the girl nod her head, the Queen made her way to her daughter's bed and sat down beside her. "Everything is going to be fine, okay?" She assured her, giving a gentle kiss on Annelise's forehead. Elsa laid with Annelise for a while until she fell back asleep and after the storm had passed them.

When Elsa was a small child (before Anna was born) and had discovered her own shadow, she would play around with it. Elsa fooled around with the little magic she had and showed it off to her shadow which was how her parents found out about it in the first place. Since she was the only child at the time, her shadow was her friend.
