He didn’t know, & didn’t care to know, what Scamander had been blathering on about -- what they’d done to the boy? Well, he supposed he should take it as a compliment that Scamander thought he was important enough to have any say in what happened to Harry Potter. 

"I mean... in moderation, yeah. Too much at once can make you sick. Impair your judgement. Vision. Motor skills...” He trailed off, deciding the explanation of a hangover would only deter her further. “In reasonable amounts it can actually make you feel pretty damn good. As for the smell, different drinks have different aromas.” Of all the things he could introduce her to, of course booze had taken the priority. 

“okay, it’s been so busy today i’m pulling double duty. what can i get you?” monica asked as she stood behind the bar counter and looked down at her notepad, barely looking at the other person. 

"okay, in a totally hypothetical situation. is it wrong of me to want to adopt all the animals in the vet office that i see? the ones who are up for adoption, not the ones who are there for actual visits.” 

elizabeth walked through the bookshop during her break from working there and she smiled to the other person, “are you looking for anything specific or are you just looking around like me? i never know what i’m looking for until i find it.”

"okay, i’m just saying that the art scene in this town totally needs to change.” laney said, tapping her pencil on the paper and looking around the paper’s office. she sighed, shaking her head. “i was thinking of doing my own kind of exhibition type thing. but i’m not exactly sure how that would go over. since i can’t objectively write on my own art piece.”

her magic felt weird, off in this world. but that was the difference, wasn’t it? it was a different place. a different world. and lou still didn’t know what to do about all of this. this place felt similar to her own. she could feel it was almost magical, but she didn’t know. which is how she’d wound up exploring on her own and wandering out a bit far. hearing a noise she turned around, “well, if somebody is there show yourselves. and if it’s just an animal then i don’t know what to expect.”

"hi.” piper said in greeting, holding out a tray of baked goods. “so i was experimenting with some new recipes for these tarts and i made a bit too many because i accidentally tripled the recipe.” piper winced. it had only happened because she’d accidentally thrown in too much salt and then needed to make up for the extra salt by balancing everything else out. “so, would you like some? there’s a lemon raspberry and a plum tart.”
