#offbeat opens

Ayaka awoke laying on her back, staring towards the ceiling. Surely this wouldn’t be good for your spine? She thought to herself, pushing her body upright into a sitting position. She was right. A rush of pain ran through her head as she put the palm of her hand onto her head, clutching at her hair. The light and the hard ground didn’t help the huge headache she had in any way.

She heard someone introducing themselves to the group, and looked at the source of the sound. It took a moment for her vision to adjust and to make out exactly what she was looking at, but eventually the blurry double-vision became one image and she noticed one… or maybe conjoined twins? standing at the front of the hall. The person did look like two halves of two people either way, so that was really the only logical conclusion Ayaka could come to.

She then noticed them saying something about a ‘lovely trip’… what trip? She doesn’t remember hearing about any school trips, especially not straight after being accepted. She looked around, but Fumiko and Emiko didn’t seem to be here either… If it was a school trip, surely everyone would have been here, but they were another class, so maybe it was just a class trip? Ayaka scratched her head in confusion, just realising that her headache was gone while she did so.

She heard the twins(?) tell everyone to make friends before swiftly exiting the room, So Ayaka pushed herself off of the ground and glanced around the hall, looking for someone to approach. She wandered around the room, glancing at the very small, high up windows. It almost felt like she was in a prison, locked in a room with no way out, before she stopped just before another person, almost bumping into them. She really should pay more attention. She looked at them, smiling gently.
