WRT Lucio hate: a lot of my own mixed feelings about him do come from canon so often portraying him in ways that hit that 'yet another spoiled white boy' button for me. The rest comes from all the missed fucking potential because the writers just... didn't know how to keep him a compelling villain while also trying to make him palatable as an LI. IMO, villain-fucker-fanon Lucio > actual canon Lucio > watered-down poor-woobie-did-nothing-wrong Lucio, I got my work cut out for me in ToC...
see the trouble is i dont think i actually slant as far towards villain fucker as it may seem like i should
it's that issue of keeping him a threat without writing him off as a 2D villain but not excusing his behavior but giving him a chance to Feel Something About It/Process That but not immediately doing a 180?? ... so basically the same issue as the canon writers without pressure from corporate execs that don't know what a story is
also the canon itself doesn't respect him (even as a villain) so its hard for me to take that at face value
idk i spent like 6 years carefully molding my last blorbo in my head so maybe that's the issue, im getting in too deep
