Ever since he came back to South Korea, he got calls about people who thought he would be dead.

She knew she didn’t like the girl from the very first moment that she had first seen her but the manner in which she was speaking towards her was not called for. It was taking a lot of self control to hold herself back from striking her - if anyone else had been around she may have already done so. She would not allow for anyone to speak down to her in such a manner. “You are the one who comes into this family and expects things from us with nothing in return? You may think that you understand us but you don’t. No outsider could ever understand the curse that we carry - even if they themselves happen to be cursed. It’s different. It’s not similar at all and I would very much like it if you stayed away from us all from now on”. It was all that she could think to say, hiding her fear behind her bitter words like always.

Even if he was right, even if he had been the one to say such at first, that did very little to ease the pain that came with her agreeing with him. Why had he been so foolish? Getting close to others was never in his life plans. Getting close to others only meant that he would end up hurting more in the end and this here was the prove of the matter. How often had he been warned? How many times had it been said that he didn’t deserve to feel anything close to something like love? He held the phone close to his eat, his hand shaking as he listened to the voice on the other end of the phone, taking a slow, deep, careful breath as he tried to contain the anger that was growing inside. She knew this was going to happen. She knew that this was the ending they would get and yet she still seemed to expect for him to accept it? No. He wasn’t allowing this to happen. Even if he had to force a reset to happen. Even if he had to find a way to make the reset happen again, he’d find a way. “If you’re not coming back here then I am coming to you”, he frowned a little, pausing in placing things into the back of his car, trying to stay calm as he knew that Maika didn’t deserve to be shouted at, “I’m not leaving you there - I can’t leave you there and you know it...hide. Hide until I get there. Hide until I can save you...please Maika. Don’t let him take you from there”.

This was what he did these days. Lose himself in the world inside a book and do his best to ignore the hell that was going on outside his room. It seemed like the best way to keep his mind from wondering too much and to keep himself busy and quiet enough that his father wouldn’t find a need to come and annoy him without any warning. It was the perfect little balance he’d found, a way to lessen the stress on Saeyoung, now that he had Maika’s safety to worry over too. She was a nice girl. Saeran enjoyed spending time with her but that only added to his concern when it came to the effects that his family could have on her overall health. Nothing good could ever come from joining their family, a point that only seemed to be emphasised as a loud scream was heard from outside, Saeran placing his book to one side as he stared at the window in horror. That had been Maika, right? 

He’d been sitting tapping his pen against the side of the table, staring down at the piece of blank paper before him and though he hadn’t even mentioned just what was on his mind or what had him thinking so hard, it was pretty obvious to see that he looked rather upset about something. Saeran was off at the other side of the room, a book propped open and the younger twin lost in whatever world he was reading - though both boys glanced up as Mai spoke, almost as though just realising that she was still with them. The younger brother gave a soft smile and returned back to his story, Saeyoung glancing up at Maika for a few moments before he shifted to stand, walking over and gently wrapping his arms around her shoulders as he rest against her with a soft sigh. He was grateful to have been pulled away from his thoughts and so that made him take a few moments longer to register just what had been said. “Wait, wait, there’s an update planned? I didn’t know about this”, the serious tone was now gone, replaced by a child like excitement that had him opening up a nearby laptop and entering in the details for the update news that Maika had spoke of, Saeran soon walking over to glance at the screen when he heard his brothers excited gasp, “Oh they’re adding new heroes and everything!” “You play this too?”, Saeran asked Maika, looking slightly surprised, Saeyoung beginning to look through the different types of new armour sets that were being displayed, “Is it really that fun? It looks like it’d take a lot of work...” “But that is just part of the fun!”, Saeyoung grinned towards his brother as he pulled up some of the new sets, “Ohhh these are pretty!”
