❝ ——— true . how often do i tell you that you’re the best ? ❞ clearly not often and not enough ( there willnever be an enough with everything lou’s done for her , with how she’s always been there for her , whatever the mess that debbie got stuck herself in ) , but she makes a mental note in her head to change that from now on . ❝ just promise you’ll get some rest afterwards . i would hate to see you pass out from sleep deprivation , honey . ❞ she knows lou can and will do whatever she wants and that’s okay , but debbie makes sure to at least request she take care of herself .
a feeling of comfort wraps around her body and mind , the feeling almost foreign to her now , but with lou ( and only lou ) , everything else stops mattering ——— and it almost feels like nothing had changed . as ifclaude never happened . as if she never fucked everything up . ❝ if you want . as long as it doesn’t require you moving away from me . you’re too comfy . ❞ debbie murmurs into the blonde’s shoulder . a sigh , one of content , caresses her lips as lou’s arm curls around her . it only makes her press herself closer to the woman , as she takes a deep breath through her nose and breathes in the smell that is just so lou and the remains of a perfume that sticks to her skin . ❝ i almost forgot how good you smell . ❞
A small smirk appears in Lou’s lips at Debbie’s words, Lou’s smirk, one the other woman probably knows by heart without even having to see it. “Mm, every now and then. But it’s nice to know you still remember,” the Aussie said, letting a touch of smugness paint her voice here and there. She obviously doesn’t need Debbie to say anything like that, but of course she’s going to play along when it happens. However, Lou’s entire expression changes, softens when she hears what Debbie says next, the concern behind it, the pet name at the end. Lou’s free hand moves up to push some dark strands of hair behind Debbie’s ear, fingertips brushing over her cheekbone as she does so, like she’s trying to calm down whatever worry the words came from in the first place.
“Don’t worry about me, baby. I own a nightclub, I can deal with staying awake a little longer.” And, guess what, she can deal with it better when Debbie’s resting like that against her, when she’s the reason why Debbie’s comfortable. Lou can feel the other woman relaxing into her touch, and... It’s then when it hits her, how she’s missed this. The closeness, the intimacy where no words need to be spoken for them to understand each other. Debbie. Lou sighs too, through her nose, without being able to stop the grin forming on her lips when she hears the brunette’s voice again. And, with her words echoing in her mind, Lou reaches forward to lower her laptop’s screen, momentarily pausing her work, and turns her head to press a lingering kiss to Debbie’s temple, one that says more things than she could have found in words.
Then, slowly, gently, carefully, Lou moves away from her. Is that exactly what Debbie’s asked her not to do? Yes. Does she have a reason to do it? Yes, and her eyes are calm, reassuring, telling the other woman not to worry. In a matter of seconds Lou’s grabbed her phone from the coffee table in front of them, and shifted completely on the couch so she’s lying down, head against the arm rest, one foot resting flat on the couch while her other leg hangs from its edge. And once she’s comfortable, Lou simply looks up at Debbie and pats her chest, head tilting to the side as she speaks. “C’mere, Jailbird, I can do this from my phone too. You’re going to hurt your neck if we stay like that.”
