āHere,ā She said, getting him to his feet, āTry to wash it out with water, that might help.ā She stood back, to give him some room. She stood, arm crossed, nervously chewing on her thumb nail as she watched him.
āIām so sorry,ā She said, again.
āShut up,ā She said, smiling, pushing him playfully as he made the comment about her locking her doors more often. To be honest, she probably would. At least, for the next two weeks ⦠until the only person that she ended up locking out was herself and Annie and then it would be back to unlocked doors ⦠and spraying friends in the face.
āBut, hey, on a scale from 1 to 10, how well did this stuff work?ā She asked, āI mean, if you really were here to rob and/or murder me, you think this might buy me enough time to get away?ā She asked, half teasingly, but half serious, āBecause we both know that Iām not actually going to start locking the door ⦠even after this. Sorry.ā

Serves him right considering he made himself at home in her apartment. His previous closeness with Kara still lingers between them even though they are not dating anymore. Truth is, he canāt help but feel an ease in her apartment thanks to their history and his relationship with Annie.
Lifting his head, John reaches to nudge her side as he brings a dry towel to his face,Ā āIād say, it gets a 10 from me.ā He smacks the towel on her face briefly,Ā āAny realĀ invader would definitely be eliminated,ā he says, before wetting the corner of the towel to press it against his right eye again.Ā
Heās about to apologize for coming in unannounced when he feels a sting,Ā āAgh,ā he lets out and moves to sit down on the toilet seat.Ā āHey can you check out my eye?ā John asks as he lowers the towel from his eye and looks up at her.Ā āBy the way, youāre not allowed to ever carry pepper spray, youāre lethal with perfume, pretty sure I wouldnāt have made it if you had that,ā he teases her, Ā before he makes sure to sit still for her.
After a moment, he asks,Ā āAm I gonna die?ā
