so heres a new character that may be here to stay!!?? OwO. Anyway this lad came about during a discussion a couple weeks ago abut DnD, and the guys talking about it asked me what my character would be, and i asked if there was cats. and i was excited to find out there was!!
so i would like welcome a new friend. The tabaxi mage Thomas!
He grinned. βFunny is perspective.β He came over with another cough and checked the window before slipping it open a little and propping it up with a stick before coming over. βWhatβre you lookin at so intently?β
βOld clippings,β she muttered, moving aside a little to let him see. Glanced up at him.
βOur first few cases,β he said with a smile, wiping his hands on the towel before slinging it back over his shoulder. βWellβ¦first few that the papers reported on.β
She nodded, keeping an eye on him. βWhyβd you keep these?β
He shrugged. βDunno. Seemed like a good idea at the time.β He glanced at her, his grin sliding down into a smile. βDoes itβ¦bother you? That we were in the paper?β
She shook her head and looked back down. βNot really. I donβtβ¦quite know how to feel about it, exactly. Spend so long in the shadows, itβs strange to be in the spotlight.β
βSpotlight keeps us safe for now,β he said, tapping one of the pictures. ββSpecially after that one with the mayor.β
She snorted. βMysterious disappearance my foot. His kid just wanted to escape for a while.β
βGood thing we convinced him to get back home before anyone found out about hisβ¦friend.β
She frowned. Looked up at him. βWas it? We told him to hide. Just like you were told. Like I was. Like we are. Why didnβt we just let himβ¦be?β
βWe needed cash,β he answered, sitting on the desk. βAnd to hide from a certain vampiress. Plus itβ¦it was just the right thing for now. You know how careful some secrets need to be managed.β
She considered it for a moment. βYou donβtβ¦regret staying hidden, do you? I didnβtβ¦β
He gave her a small smile, put a finger under her chin and turned her to face him. Finger slid away from her as they met eyes. βMiss Becka, I may regret a lot of things about my life. Meeting you has never been one of them. I donβt doubt it one bit, and I hope you never do either.β He leaned down and kissed her forehead, giving her another small smile.
Something shrill began to whistle in the kitchen and he started. βOh damn, thatβs goin off already?!β He rushed out of the room and left her with a small smile.

Don't really have one I hate. Goods and bads with all the seasons. My favorite is the rainy season though. Sittin' by the window when a cold rain shushes the streets. Best thing.

Bad Summary:
Poor little gay country boy turns himself into prominent detective in the 1950s because he saw his future best friend acting like a feral ally cat and decided to adopt her
Got dragged onto wild adventures where he found out vampires are real, magic is real, sprites are real, and basically every fairy story he's ever heard and half a dozen of the ones he's never heard is probably real
Enjoys making tea and became self-appointed cook after Becks nearly raised the dead on accident and he banished her from the kitchen
It's been a while but I'm pretty sure this was just an OC ramble, thanks for the ask!
So lets ramble a little about Thomas! Poor guy, lol
Well, not really 'poor guy' but like...so far he's my only "just a guy" kind of character. He's human, he's none-magical, and his best friend is Becks who's a human/earth sprite that kinda attracts trouble at the blink of an eye. He likes to say they were a pair of broken toys and their edges matched up, meaning they saw each other when both felt completely broken and learned trust and respect and help from the other. She keeps him phsyically safe and magically safe, he keeps her emotionally and mentally safe. Morsso than just being a detective with a magically-inclined partner, he also has to deal with being a primary target for an abusive vampiress that wants Becks back under her control and realizes that Thomas is standing in the way of that, so she tries various things from direct attacks to backstabbing to manipulating events and all of it just...doesn't really work. He finds a way around it, resists her words, survives her attacks....all of it.
And he's just a guy, you know? He literally has no magic.
He's just a guy. With a gun. He's got smarts, he's got compassion, he makes room for people to be themselves even when he's go zero context for why they're like that. There's nothing in his background that's an 'oops, look at that he was magic all along'. Nope. He's just...he likes raspberry sweet tea and sunny afternoons on a back porch that looks out over a patch of green (doesn't have to be big for him to enjoy it) with a good friend or two and some laughter. He's chill, he's friendly. He's not without his broken bits, but it only makes him try to understand where someone else is coming from.
Like...all the chaos of Becks' life just breezes past him. Not that he's not involved in it, he is, but like...his whole vibe is literally 'Chill guy that drinks tea and tries to help'.
And in all honesty I think it's kinda hilarious. Because he's just a guy that found a gal that was as broken as he was. She stopped him from killing himself by needing someone to take care of her. He stopped her from giving up by needing someone to save him. Becks and Thomas just constantly circle each other in my mind because they saved each other by literally just...being themselves. At each other.
Anyway. That's my ramble about Thomas, lol. Just a good ol' sweet-tea-drinkin' gun-totin' country-boy-turned-PI that loves who he loves and is kind.
