Two new cutes to add to the bunch.

          Like a stray dog, the feral thing returns to its perceived owner after time spent apart.

     Timidly, at first. Then, becomes a regular occurrence.

    The layered smell of spice and other such lingering scents provide a comfort for the younger of the two. The familiarity, the safety. Isn’t sure why she’d returned to the wild in the first place. Perhaps, like a bird leaving the nest, she braves the wilderness once more in search of something… peculiar...  Something missing within her.

    A solution to the chasm between her brain and her mouth. There is language out there, she knows. Language that would help her speak and communicate better than she already does. She’s spoken it once, she can speak it again.

    But in Aeva’s home, she feels no pressure to rush herself. Thinks that Aeva understands her plenty, and may have missed her as much as Lilly did. Has already tried to apologize, kiss, and hold. Aeva might be different now, as Lilly is ignorant to the length of passing time. But she is different, too.

    Something has obviously changed in the albino girl and it is apparent in the way she carries herself. Laying down at Aeva’s hearth and picks at the floor idly, her face twisted in deep, silent contemplation. With a heaving sigh, she frowns, uncertain and confused as she stares at embers.

    “...A wife,” she mumbles, out of the blue and most apprehensively. It’s a desire she’s, surprisingly, frightened to admit. And thus, the explanation of her absence is revealed.

    She is a child that’s left home in search of a mate, and was… Well. Unsuccessful.

    The wolf girl sits up, tucking her knees to her chest. Continues to stare hard at embers while twisting the neatly-done plait in her hands nervously. She doesn’t want the kind of love the shepherd and his wife had given her, instead the love they’d given each other. Children, too, someday. Like the girls in her village, with their round, beautiful bellies. 

     But she’s already convinced herself otherwise, due to past experience.
