So with 12x XP Rixik the Bounty Hunter finally made it off Taris, and in his mad, headlong rush to 50 acquired Skadge on Belsavis.
Ugh.
In a game of this nature, where responses have to be pre-programmed and recorded and all that stuff, Iâll accept some railroading. Â I donât have a live GM making adjustments on the fly. Â This isnât a cooperative RP session with friends or a tabletop game. Â Okay, I get that. Â But, wow, the choices at the end of BH Belsavis really stink. Â And not just having to take Skadge along.
For that matter, the choices all through BH Belsavis are pretty bad. Â Playing along with Skadgeâs ultra-violence? Â Not so fun unless youâre also nutjob darkside.
However, the ending is the worst. Â I donât like that you have only two options of dealing with Barrows. Â Letting Skadge rip his lungs out (or whatever, it was mercifully a fade-to-black scene with lovely sound effects) or freezing him instead. Â Thereâs no option to let your character kill him, with or without Skadgeâs approval. Â Iâd like that option, even if it meant a one on one battle with Skadge afterward sans other companions. Â
Rixikâs not a nice guy, but he doesnât go for useless torture. Â There were no in-character options for him at that point. Â After that little demo, thereâs no way heâd let Skadge on his ship. Â Quite frankly, heâd kill Barrows just to frustrate Skadge. Â The bounty wasnât for capture anyway. Â The only game options for âdeadâ meant indulging Skadge, and he wouldnât do that either.
I suppose thatâs what fic is for.
For the record, in-game Rixik delivered a Barrows-icle to Darth Tormen. Â Heâs just not very happy about it.
On the other hand, he did sabotage the Empire on Voss while still managing to get paid, and is now about one quest away from the finale of Act 3. Â I might actually find out what he does with the Chancellor sometime before the game shutters.

Some of these are fanfic for different games, some is game (tabletop RPG) related, some otherwise independent. Â I canât begin to count the number of worlds and characters and continuities represented here. Â I would get very depressed.
The scary thing is there's more. Â Just not to hand.
As with BrightEphemera, there are more snippets than mere sentences. Â Some are bits Iâve lost interest in and have no intent of finishing--fanfic for games Iâm no longer playing falls in this category. Â I'll answer asks for context or more information on any of them.
Cleaner checked the location stamp on the message. Â Sith Sanctum. Â It would be fun for someone at any rate. Â Probably not him. Â "Only if you want your face melted," Cleaner replied, snapping the comm unit closed.

Enough avoiding it. Â I'm sorry I couldn't say goodbye in person. Â I'm sorry I couldn't say it on holo. Â I wish I could tell you where my unit was going, but I canât.

When I return the ship is filled with hissing, as though something is wrong with the environmental systems. Â The ship service droid is unconcerned, which is something of a marvel. Â Still, it takes me a moment to recognize the sounds as speech.

How can you sleep while Sobrik is burning? (thanks Bright, still canât put this to rest.)

âHe will. Â Jesp, heâs had plenty of opportunities to sell me out and he hasnât.â
âThatâs because he loves you, Kirya. Â He doesnât love me,â Rixik said, âIâm not sure he even likes me all that much.â
âHeâd keep your secrets, Jesp.â

Kirya sighed again, âAll weâre doing is stopping by, dropping off the holosculpture, and leaving. Â Five minutes tops. Â If weâre lucky, Dad wonât even want to see us and we can just leave the holosculpture at the door,â she started toward the main port entry, âcome on.â

"Hey," Kira said from the doorway. Â Her hair was indifferently combed, her robes belted in haphazard fashion. Â "How come we're the only ones who start before breakfast? Â All the leishii rolls are gone by the time I get to the cafeteria."

Hess: The pattern produced in the subjectâs cloth was very complex. Â Closer inspection revealed that the person in the portrait was unraveling her cloth, not making it. Â The artist responsible is Ysabelle Mondenard.
Controller: The native you brought here. Â Why is the painting significant?
Hess: Because the pattern in the cloth shown in her painting is the Dimensional Map.

Bring rifle.ââ he raised his eyes just over the upper edge of the sheet and glared at his companion, âNow, I realize that brevity is the soul of telegraphy, but you must admit thatâs more than a bit cryptic, especially for you.â He folded the telegraph and replaced it.

Aldws shrugged, âQuiet years. Â Iâve no complaints to be sure. Â No complaints, and not much to complain about,â he said, setting his empty mug on the table. Â He leaned forward a bit, âIf a king is a good king, but nothing trying happens during his reign, will his people remember him as a good king?â he asked, âOr will they forget him altogether?â
Striderâs smile evaporated, âA hard question to answer,â he said, hiding his expression behind his mug.

Madmonk: Yes?
Morganstern: Take off all your gear and jump in the lava. (points to molten forge metal)
Madmonk: (Looks at lava) (Turns back to Morganstern) I am thinking I will die. Â And it will hurt.

âSo you found no answers in Dalaran?â asked Mikhail.
âDalaran,â Chernevog cleared his throat, âIt is ruins now, you know.â
âSo Iâd heard,â replied Mikhail. Â âBut I thought the human mages were still there. Â The Kirin Tor, I believe?â
Chernevog sighed, âDid you know it was KilâJaden himself who razed their city?â he said.
âOh no,â said Mikhail.
âAnd furthermore, there are among our allies a people calling themselves high elves,â said Chernevog, âmany of them are mages. Â Many are in what remains of Dalaran.â
âI did not,â replied Mikhail.
âNeither did I. Â Strange thing. Â They look like our Blood Elves and speak Thalassian. Â Or a very near dialect,â said Chernevog.
Mikhail shook his head, âOh no,â he repeated.
âThere wereâŠwords exchanged,â Chernevog sat straighter and cleared his throat again, âin several languagesâŠthat probably ought not to have been.â  He turned to Mikhail, âIt was not my finest hour,â he admitted.

Arahael dismounted and came to Belethâs side, âThis looks bad,â he said, examining her rent armor. Â It was the only serious damage. Â The Vrykulâs heavy axe had come down on her upper right arm and cut clean through the dark metal plate. Â Sanguine ichor dripped slowly from the gash.
Beleth just shrugged and dismounted, âMy bloodâs poison to you, Arahael. Â Leave it be,â she said. Â She gathered up Witchlightâs reins and led him off.

Last and probably least, a glimpse of a worgen before he became a worgen.
Alene sat at the corner of the deserted bar and poured himself another drink. Â The room was dark and quiet. Â The bartender rubbed the smooth wood surface with a stained cloth, spreading around a melange of spilled drinks and bits of food. Â Â Alene held the chipped crystal for a moment, examining the potent amber liquid within. Â The heat from his hands warmed it, releasing its characteristic aroma. Â He tossed it back, savoring the warm burn of the liquor down his throat. Â It joined the growing pool in his belly. Â He wiped his mouth on the back of his hand and reached again for the bourbon bottle. Â As he removed the stopper, he heard the cityâs alarm horn sounding in the distance.
Giles, the bartender, put down his rag and peered out the tavernâs grimy window. Â Alene replaced the stopper and watched. Â The burly barkeep grunted and rubbed the heel of his hand on the glass, which did nothing for its clarity.
âWhatâs happening?â asked Alene, standing. Â The floor tilted and he steadied himself against the bar.
Giles turned back to him and shrugged. Â âCanât see nuthinâ,â he rasped, going back to his methodical wiping.
Alene snorted, âGuess Iâll have a look,â he said. Â He tossed a handful of silver on the bar and took the bottle. Â Aleneâs dog Bishop got to his feet and followed his master, tail wagging slowly.
Giles swept the coins into his meaty hand, counting them at a glance, âYer still shy on yer tab, Tanner,â he said as Alene donned his coat and picked up his pack. Â
Alene waved a hand in dismissal, âYou know Iâm good for it,â he said, carefully packing the bottle away. Â He picked up his rifle and checked the load, then slung it by its strap over his shoulder. Â He looked back at Giles, âUnless the Campbellâs distilleryâs finally gone up. Â I may perish of mourning,â he said. Â He plucked his bowler from the stagâs-head hat rack.
Giles grunted again, âSo long as yer pay yer tab in yer will,â he growled.
Alene tugged the tavernâs door open, and the alarm horn sounded again. Â He saw nothing odd in the street beyond, but heard shouting in the distance. Â âMight want to lock up, Giles,â he said, putting on his hat. It settled firmly over his black hair
âBah,â growled Giles. Â He rubbed his balding head with one hand then leaned forward on the dark wood of his bar, âDint leave for the scourge, or the Northgate Rebellion. Â Iâm not leavinâ now.â
