Human Friendship
for @obeythedemons
*Knock knock* "Lance! Are you in there?"
"Yeah! Come in!"
Kana pushed open the door to Lance's room, and stopped dead in her tracks.
"Um ... Lance? Where did those cats come from?"
"They're a surprise for Barbatos. They're rat-catcher cats, but they don't hurt the rats! They just gently take them outside."
"Oh my goodness that's amazing!" Kana exclaimed. "Where in the world did you find cats like that?"
They both stared at each other for a moment, and said at the same time. "Satan."
Kana giggled, and reached over to give the cats a little pet. They purred, and rubbed against her hand.
"Aw, they like you," Lance said.
"I like them too." Kana said happily. "Have you given them names yet?"
"Not yet." Lance blushed, and looked at the ground. "I-kind of want me and Barbatos to name them together."
Kana smiled. "That's a good idea."
"They're both really different," Lance said, trying to change the subject. "This one is really playful. And this one is more laid back."
"I'm sure you and Barbatos will think of some lovely names for them."
As Kana continued to pet the cats, Lance remembered something. "Oh yeah, did you need something?"
"That's right!" Kana said. "Um. Diavolo wants to take a photo of us."
"Why?"
"I'm not sure. He said something about "capturing the spirit of human friendships" or something like that." Kana shrugged her shoulders. "Just one of his whims I guess. Solomon and I came over because he had to talk to Diavolo about something to do with our house move, and I just came along. And when Diavolo saw me, he got real excited and told me about the picture. By the way, how are you going to present the cats to Barbatos?"
"I haven't thought about that yet," Lance admitted. "I can't really wrap them in a box, and I can't just hand them over and be like, here you go!"
Kana thought for a moment. "Why don't we have them in the picture with us? And when Barbatos asks, you can tell him "surprise!"
Lance just looked at Kana.
"It's just an idea."
He nodded. "I can't really think of a better one at the moment."
"LANCCCEEE, KAAANAAA," they heard Diavolo bellow from downstairs.
They looked at each other and began to laugh.
"Okay, you take this cat. And I'll take this one."
"Yay," Kana said.
As they walked downstairs, each holding a cat, they saw Diavolo, Barbatos and Solomon waiting for them in the foyer.
Diavolo looked surprised for a moment, and then began chuckling. "You two always surprise me."
"Where did those cats come from"? Barbatos asked.
Lance looked at Kana, who looked back. They nodded. "Surprise!"
Solomon smiled. "If I'm not mistaken, those look like a pair of gentle rat-catcher cats."
Lance nodded, while Barbatos expression only slightly changed from confused to surprised.
"I thought they would be good to have around the castle," Lance admitted.
Barbatos reached his hand out so the cats could smell him, and after a couple of sniffs they both leaned against his hand. He gave a small smile, which sent Lance's heart fluttering. "I think they'll fit in the palace quite nicely," Barbatos said. "Thank you, Lance. They're wonderful."
Lance's face turned red, and Kana smiled happily.
"Let's put the cats in the photo!" Diavolo announced.
Kana pointed to a chair. "Here Lance. Sit. And the cats and sit with you. I'll stand behind you."
They both walked over, while Barbatos readied the camera, and they got into position.
"You two really are such wonderful friends," Diavolo beamed.
Kana and Lance smiled. They already knew that.
"Click" went the camera.
We should name the prince Lance! Short for Lancelot!! Or somethin fancy.
Ooooooh I like it!
And I'll be making more OCs you guys can name along the way! Maybe the Prince x Peasant could be a different Prince or something!
I'm honestly excited for your thoughts!

So Lance is back....
So I heard you like himbos
I really wanna see 39 but idk who'd be best so pick two of your ocs for it!
Thank you for giving me a reason to play with the dynamic between two of my newest ocs.
Caffeine is not a food group. I don’t care if you have two exams and a paper in the next two days you are shaking and you need to get some rest AU
Lance ran a hand over his face. Good God, was this what he was like when he protested others helping him?
“When was the last time you ate something?” He tried, lowering his hand to look over at his roommate.
Noah shrugged from where he was standing at their small kitchen counter. “I had Redbull around... I dunno. What time is it?”
“One thirty-six.”
Noah finally looked up from his notes, eyes wide with surprise. “Seriously? It’s been that long already?”
Lance groaned and hid his face in his hand again. “Are you telling me the only thing you’ve had today is a can of Redbull?”
“No.”
Lance felt relief for a split second.
“I had three.”
Lance felt a small part of himself die inside.
“Okay, first of all, nope.” He quickly strode over and slammed Noah’s notebook shut, earning a look of over-caffeinated fury from the college student. Noah opened his mouth, likely to growl out some sort of threat. Lance held up a finger and cut him off. “Second, NOPE. Caffeine is not a food group. That doesn’t count.” Quieter, Lance muttered under his breath, “I can’t believe the only thing you’ve had today is three freakin Redbulls.”Â
Spotting movement, Lance quickly snatched the notebook away from Noah’s reaching hand. “Uh uh, no!” Noah made to grab for his notebook again. Lance smacked him over the head with it, frowning. “I don’t care if you have two exams and a paper due, you’re shaking so much I can hear you vibrating.”
Noah scowled and rubbed his head. “Am not.”
“Are too. You,” Lance walked over to his bedroom door and threw Noah’s notebook inside before closing it. He ignored his roommate’s loud protest at the action and continued, “are going to get some rest. And put some actual food in your stomach.”
Noah crossed his arms over his chest and glowered. “I can’t do that.”
“You can and you will.” Lance mimicked his stressed out friend’s stance. Normally, he was sure Noah would’ve physically moved him out of the way and forced himself into Lance’s room to get back the notes. Right now, Lance was counting on his stupid, tired friend being too sleep deprived to be able to do much. Just in case though, the dark haired boy added, “And if you don’t, I’m calling Nancy.”
Noah’s eyes narrowed. “You’re bluffing.”
“Hardly.”
The pair stared at each other, neither one backing down. On one hand, Noah had a ton of work due in the next two days and needed to get it done. On the other, Nancy was a force to be reckoned with when taking care of a patient.
At last, Noah caved. He groaned and slouched in defeat. “Fine,” he muttered. He pointed an accusing finger at Lance. “Don’t call Nancy.”
Lance bit back a small smirk. “I won’t. If you actually go rest.”
The redhead glared, but started reluctantly walking towards his bedroom. “You suck, you know that?”
Lance couldn’t hold it back anymore. He grinned. “So I’ve been told.”
