What do you believe this character can offer to the roleplay?
Iâve had the idea for Nina  for a long time, but I never found the right roleplay group to use her in, but I could never find one where I could both have her be as royally fucked up as she is and fit in. I think that Nina is very well suited to the dark environment of Reitseg, and has a ton of growing to do. As time goes on, depending on the relationships she forms and the things she does, Nina is either going to sort out some of her emotional problems and become a better person (although I donât think that total rehabilitation is possible at this point) or become even more malevolent and dangerous. Of course, given that Reitseg is Reitseg, the latter is more likely- but I like to see where the character takes me organically. As for the specific role she could play,I can definitely see her forming relationships with many of the canon characters, and I would love to see what would happen if she were to actually get attached to someone, and perhaps reveal what she did. Sheâs an extremely damaged person who refuses to acknowledge it, and there may come a point when she canât do that anymore. Finally, Iâd love to see someone push Nina- itâs not pretty when she gets angry, and that would definitely be great fun to play out. I feel like this section is kind of rambling, but, in essence, all I really want is to see what happens naturally.
Character Blurb:
Overachiever. Enigma. Mastermind. Unwavering. House Ophelia. Kinslayer. Ice Queen? Half-Breed.
Further Information:
Nina has the fiery red hair and angular features of a Morozov, but everything about her demeanor invokes her mother, a siren. It is obvious she is very beautiful, but there is something almost unsettling about it, and many (correctly) suspect she isnât fully human, and Nina doesnât confirm or deny the rumours. In the water, her legs turn into a silver mermaidâs fin, and she partially develops gills, although she needs to surface every hour or so. Her wardrobe consists of black, black and more black- Nina isnât one for gaudy displays of wealth, but makes sure that her appearance gives off an aura of elegance and sophistication. On her finger, she wears a ring in the shape of a fish, as a tribute to her mother.
Nina is also a prefect and coxswain for House Ophelia, as well as a member of FantĂŽmeâs duelling club.
Personality Specifics:
INTELLIGENT. Nina had always been sharp, but a mixture of circumstances and her fatherâs lessons have molded her into a mastermind. She is always, always thinking and considering the consequences of actions, and considers her intelligence and unbiasedness her greatest abilities. Careful in preparation and meticulous in execution, Nina makes sure that she can make what she wants happen- even if it does take a while. To this day, she considers her murder of her father and stepmother her greatest achievement, but knows she can top that one day.
COMPOSED. Calm at best and an ice queen at worst, nothing (even the most brutal Verity Court proceedings) ever seems to faze Nina. Even when she does feel something, she makes sure to bury it deep under the surface. Her father always taught her that showing emotion was like inviting your enemies into the front door of your house, and that is a lesson she will always abide by.
DAMAGED. Ivanâs advice is not the only reason for Ninaâs stoicism. His abuse twisted her and turned her into the occasionally sadistic killer she is today. Still, Nina refuses to acknowledge her emotional problems and sees her nightmares as nothing more than residual weakness from her childhood.
RUTHLESS. Nina does not harm people unprovoked- the values of House Ophelia are too deeply ingrained in her for that. But when someone pushes her over the edge, she will go to the ends of the earth to make them pay. When she thinks someone deserves something, her ability to show empathy disappears completely.
Nina is AFRAID OF WEAKNESS AND FAILURE. The events of her childhood have convinced her that nothing can result from the two but disaster, and she will do anything to avoid them. Even small mistakes on her part could make her father inflict excruciating pain on her, so even though he is no longer to harm her, the fear is still very much there. If someone were to tell Nina that, however, she would tell them they needed to stop listening to muggle psychobabble.
Biography:
Antonina Morozova was born into one of the most prestigious Russian wizarding families. The Morozov line goes back for centuries, producing its fair share of influential wix all of whom (unsurprisingly for an old pureblood family) were staunch blood purists. Unfortunately enough for Nina, âpurebloodedâ is the last word that could be used to describe her. Ivan Morozov had fallen in love with a siren in Greece, despite the risk of being disowned by his family. Afterwards, however, he became deeply ashamed of the affair, and willing to do anything to avoid the label of blood traitor brutally murdered his lover in her ninth month of pregnancy. Originally he had meant to allow the child to die, but out of mercy cut Nina out of her motherâs stomach and deposited her in a muggle orphanage.
From the beginning, it was as if she had a target painted on her back. Something about Nina made her a magnet for bullies. Perhaps it was that she was an easy victim, and in a way she was- Â no one wanted to stand up for the little freak, and while she did her best to get revenge it was still nothing to be particularly wary of. But, as her tormentors learned, there is only so far someone can bend before they break. Most of Ninaâs displays of magic before that point had been fairly innocuous, but a few months before her tenth birthday, she nearly drowned a boy on dry land. The whole experience terrified her, but not as much as the tall man who arrived shortly after and announced that he was her father and would be taking her home.
Perhaps Nina had faced harshness at the hands of the other children in the orphanage, but that was nothing compared to what her father did to her. She had come away with bruises before, but had never been tortured- especially for small transgressions. Ivanâs was a different kind of cruelty altogether, one hidden carefully under a facade of wealth and dignity. Ivan was determined that his daughter- already a half-breed abomination- would not farther shame the Morozov name. âĐДз ĐŒŃĐșĐž ĐœĐ”Ń ĐœĐ°ŃĐșĐž.â He would often say to her, a Russian proverb meaning, essentially, that adversity is the best teacher. Rather than sending Nina to the Koldovstoretz school like many of her family members, Ivan instead sent her to Durmstrang, as well as tutoring her extensively on topics such as occlumency which were not covered in school. Nina hated it there with a passion, and was overjoyed when her father told her she would be taking the exam to transfer to his alma mater, Reitseg. At the same time, however, she was scared: if Ivan would use torture over small mistakes, what would he do if she failed at something as big as transferring schools?
In the end, Ninaâs diligent studying payed off. She passed the REEs with flying colors and was sorted into House Ophelia. For the first time in her life, she was able to not only fit in but flourish. FantĂŽmeâs warmer waters naturally put her at ease, and she threw herself wholeheartedly into schoolwork, finally doing things worthy of a Morozov, as well as exploring the mermish side of her abilities. Reitseg simply suited her. Her performance made her father less violent, and they were finally able to have a conversation that carried at least a semblance of normalcy. One day, Nina finally asked her father the question that had been at the back of her mind for fourteen years: what had become of her mother? And he told her the truth. In order to preserve the familyâs honor, he had killed her while she begged for her life. At that point, something inside NinaâŠsnapped. She felt as if it was that day in the orphanage again, but this time she refused to let it bubble to the surface. Instead, she planned. When her father and stepmother were found dead, no one had so much as an inkling Nina was to blame. She had been meticulous in preparation, dropping hints about her fatherâs emotional problems to an auror friend, so that when she finally did the deed, everyone saw what she wanted them to: a murder-suicide, committed by a man tortured man. Here lies Ivan Emelyanovich Morozov: destroyed bv the monster he begot.
The happiness Nina felt at finally getting her revenge on her father was overwhelming, She doesnât think about what she did to them as wrong, simply as a perfectly proportionate punishment for everything they had done to her. Nina puts her honor as an Ophelian before almost anything else, and is a firm believer in justice. Of course, Nina also cares a great deal about accomplishments and making a place for herself in the world- itâs in her nature as a Morozov. Sheâs an overachiever with a capital O, and nothing and no one can come between her and what she wants. Very few people know much about the red haired girl, and Nina intends to keep it that way.
Why did they decide to attend Reitseg?
She didnât- her father did. Ivan decided that he wasnât satisfied with the level of education she was getting at Durmstrang, and decided the only way to go was to have Nina attend Reitseg like he did. Nina was actually quite happy about the decision, since she hated it at Durmstrang and welcomed the chance to go elsewhere. At the same time, she was also terrified that she wouldnât make the cut for Reitseg, since that would definitely send her father into one of his rages, and that could not end well for her. For both of those reasons, she put in as much effort as possible to ensure that she would be accepted to Reitseg.
How do they feel about the dark past and present of the school?
Fair is fair. Nina is a true Ophelian, and she believes firmly that punishment should go to those who deserve it. If someone chooses to break the school rules, they fully deserve the punishment they are given. And if someone is wronged, Nina believes that is completely within their rights to retaliate. However, what she does have a problem with is unjust behavior. Certainly, collateral damage does happen, but Nina believes that it should be avoided as much as possible, since she despises needless cruelty. When it really comes down to it, Nina doesnât think there is anything wrong with Reitsegâs darkness (or that the school would be as great without it) and dislikes the presence of the IWL.
If they were able to produce a patronus, what would it be?
Ninaâs patronus takes the form of a stingray. As a half-mermaid, she obviously has a great connection to water and the creatures that live within it, and I think that the stingray represents Nina very well, since they usually do not bother humans, but if stepped on, will sting you. Likewise, Nina does not seek to harm those who did not harm her (that wouldnât be just, and she is an Ophelian through and through), but is utterly ruthless when she gets angry. Not to mention that as a half-mermaid, Nina is automatically disposed towards aquatic environments and creatures, and something about the sleekness and grace of a stingrayâs movements really reminds me of her.

IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Aella Dane Lauridsen. Age, Birthday: Sixteen, April 2. An Aries to the core. Aries are independent, passionate people, the first to go after what they want without any regrets or hesitation. They are often short-tempered, with a heated anger that can often turn into a grudge. They are loyal and trustworthy friends, unafraid to go to the ends of the Earth for those they care about. While sometimes childish and impatient, their natural confidence and charm rubs off on those around them. Gender, Sexuality: Cisgendered Female, Pansexual. Preferred Pronouns: She/Her Blood Status: Half-Breed (Quarter Veela)
House, Year: Marling, 6th Wand Specifics: 13.5 inches, dragon heartstring core and hornbeam wood. Dragon heartstring wands produce the most power, capable of casting a large variety of spells. They are adaptable and bond strongly, if temperamental and more prone to Dark Arts than other wand cores. Hornbeam wood wands adapt quickly and bond to talented and focused wix. They often align easily with their ownerâs sense of moral code.
Row Team/Prefect: Prefect for House Marling, 6th Year
Theme Song/Lyrics: Arsonistâs Lullaby by Hozier. âAll you have is your fire, and the place you need to reach. Donât you ever tame your demons, but always keep âem on a leash.
Facelaim: Naomi Scott, Krystal Jung (open to changing certain details in the bio if Krystal is chosen as the FC)
What do you believe this character can offer to the roleplay?
I think that Aella offers a different perspective into Reitseg and the magical universe as a whole. She brings a very different side to Veela, whose traits are often exclusive to beauty and seduction. The fact that she received the anger and fire of Veela plays a big role in her personality and her story so far in Reitseg. She had become a bit of an embodiment of âbeauty is terror.â I also think her interest in Reitseg and her somewhat combative moral code in regards to her growing curiosity of the school and what goes on and her growing horror at what really goes on in the school offers a curious arc that could be developed.
I think that she can really grow as a character in this rp, especially with the interactions with all the other characters and how she acts around them. Iâm excited to form who her small group of friends are, to expand why these few people deserve her unwavering loyalty and compassion and love while the rest of the school is either hated or treated carefully. I think her curiosity will at some point get the better of her and get her stuck in a reveal that she was better off not knowing about. I also think that her reputation and her anger will roll into something big and I would love to see how she deals with the IWL presence and the death of the six students and the growing mess and chaos of Reitseg.
Character Blurb:
Steel Thorns. Lionhearted. Valkyrie. Fairytale. Beauty. Justice? Passion. Chaos. Fire. Vicious. Dancer. Curiosity.
Further Information:
Aella has a natural sort of grace around her. Even when angry and argumentative, the witch moves like a dancer. The girl with the fairytale face, she always dresses pretty with her short skirts and clicking heels. With her dark eyes and darker hair, she looks nothing like the Veela in her blood, lacking the white blonde locks and willowy soft features of her grandmother and father. Still, she enjoys capturing the attention that her heritage warrants, never shying from her choice in bold clothing and sharp words.
She is a part of the Duelling Club in Fantome.
Personality Specifics:
Charismatic: Itâs something inborn, charisma. The draw of another person towards you. The seeds are always planted there, in every Veela child, and only ever nurtured by their parents. Her grandmother used to whisper to her between lessons and meals, braiding her dark hair as she told her a Veelaâs first line of defense was their charm. Aella has no qualms on using this to her advantage, flashing pretty smiles and easy flirtations with anyone she sets her eyes on.
Dauntless: Unafraid, Aella is never one to back down from anything. Any challenge or proposal she finds an interest in, she is the first to make a grab at it without hesitation. She needs to be, to satisfy the curiosity and need for the best within her. Even as she goes deeper and deeper into the stories and truths, she holds on tightly to the fearlessness she has used so carefully as armor.
Intelligent: Being who Aella is, it requires her to be smart with her moves. Even though the impatience in her is vying to move forward without a second thought, it is in her blood to think things over into perfection. She is quick to learn and works hard to achieve what she has, holding her intellect as a shield when her beauty fails as a sword.
Vain: She is a beautiful, talented witch and she knows it. Very aware of what she is capable of doing, it is only expected that Aella be the way she is. Confident is another word for it, but so is arrogant and Aella never romanticizes her faults. She is unapologetically vain and self-righteous.
Fierce: Passion comes with fire which comes with ferocity. A lion to her core, she is quick to fight for herself and the people she cares about. There is no such thing as backing down for her, and at some point, thatâs going to bite her in the ass.
Fear of What She is Learning: Both about herself and about Reitseg. The secrets she is learning are something of horror themselves, the justice system becoming skewed in her mind ever since she watched those six students be executed with a sword, but it doesnât scare her as much as what she is learning about herself. It is a growing and deepening fear that only goes further into her mind as she continues to peel back the layers of her identity in an effort to find the truth in Reitseg.
Biography:
Aella Dane Lauridsen was always, first and foremost, in between things, a halfbreed in every meaning of the word. In between cultures, in between species, in between worlds, her entire life was built on her shared self. One quarter Veela, three quarters Pureblood wix. One half Bulgarian, one half Indian. One foot in with the high class social circles and one foot in the crowds of everyday wix. Growing up surrounded by saris and kheer, learning Veela folklore alongside Babbity Rabbity fairytales. Cheering for Bulgaria in the Quidditch World Cup and focusing her life on music and dance both traditional and modern.
Growing up in an open neighborhood in Sofia, Aella was raised by her culture. Surrounded by villas and architecture and historical landmarks, it was impossible for her to be unaware of who she was drawing back decades of family lines. She grew up in her grandmotherâs lap, listening to stories and lessons learnt while the old veela braided her granddaughterâs dark hair into elaborate twists and knots. She lived her childhood in pointe shoes and piano benches, transfixed by the arts and determined to create something as close to beautiful.
While her identity played the balancing act, the young witch only ever dealt in extremes for herself. The angriest child, the prettiest girl. First to fight and last to leave. She had been given the best and the worst of both her parents. Her fatherâs charm and talent and selfish self-righteousness. Her motherâs beauty and intellect and blunt ambition. The mix of traits collided into something darker and fiercer. The Veela blood in her didnât create the silvery blonde hair and willowy thin figure usually associated with Veela. The easy seduction and draw of their pale faces and blue eyes was lost on the young girl. Instead, her father gifted her a fiery temper and a body that heated to the point of scalding when she was angry. She received dark charisma and a strong sense of self worth.
The choice to attend Reitseg was a difficult one. Always a talented girl, with her dance and academics, it came to little surprise that she would have a natural flow in magic. Even when anger overtook her and made her nails black and skin tinge red, she possessed the fluid gracefulness exhibited in dancers. The request for her to come to Durmstrang and Hogwarts, her parentsâ alma maters, came when she reached ten years old. Alongside with that notice came the mention of Reitseg. The dark, mysterious school for the best of wix. Where students regularly disappeared and whispers of things more terrifying than any horror story was the norm. It excited Aella, this opportunity and mystery. It took her months to convince her parents to allow her to take the exams, alongside help coerced from her grandmother.
The Lauridsens should not have been so surprised when they received the neat letter proclaiming Aella was welcome to join their incoming class.
Aella did well in her first year at Reitseg. Her sorting into House Marling didnât surprise many. It was clear to anyone with eyes that the young witch possessed every ounce of prideful vanity and ambition that Marling honored and honed into success. She found herself enamored with the darkness of Reitseg, the unknown depths and stories within the schoolâs walls. With every step that she pushed herself up in the schoolâs hierarchy, she also began searching for more than just the perfection that was shown to the public. Still, without a family name or connections to gain her the access and quick respect and reputation from her peers, she relied on her talent and pretty smile to get herself anywhere.
Aella Lauridsen did not make a name for herself until her third year, when she burned two identical handprints onto a boyâs arms for trying to touch her underneath her cotton skirt.
She remembered the event clearly, the pulsing anger and humiliation she felt when he laughed and nudged his friends. The shock on his face and painful screams that tore through the hallway when she latched her hands onto his arms and refused to let go. She remembered having to be wretched back from him by one of her classmates, the way he complained about it to anyone who would listen. She remembered sitting in Verity Court, blinking her pretty eyes at the audience and shedding fake tears as she recounted what happened. When they asked, she said she didnât know what she was doing until it was too late. When they asked, she said she was humiliated and hurt and she didnât know what to do. She remembered the cold look on the courtâs face as they let her cast a revenge hex and sent the boy to the Chambers.
She remembered smirking at him when he got out, eyeing the burn marks on his arms and the cut on his cheek and curving her red lips upwards before flouncing off in her five inch heels and twirling formal wear. The event became imprinted on everyoneâs mind. The firestarter. The girl who was never crossed twice. Harsh and unforgiving, a rose with steel thorns and little regret for the havoc she caused to see her justice done.
+ MORE
Why did they decide to attend Reitseg?
Aella first heard about Reitseg through the older witch who used to live down the street from her. The woman had a niece who had tried the exams but failed, and was regaling the story to Aellaâs mother when the small girl stalked in and demanded to know more about this unknown school. The mystery of the school intrigued her, the darkness surrounding its reputation drawing her in until all she could demand of her parents was that she be given the chance to test. A chance to find out what the whispers really meant and if it was really as terrifying and strange as the stories say.
How do they feel about the dark past and present of the school?
Aella is on a tipping scale with the schoolâs darkness. It was what first drew her in, what caught her childish eye and pushed her into the testing room. It still intrigues her, all the secrets Reitseg seems to house, although she has become skeptical of the workings of the student body itself. While she uses the justice system to her advantage, channeling a part of herself that makes people wonder why she was not in Ophelia, she canât truthfully say she agrees with everything that is done. Certainly not after she saw her potions partner and his friends slaughtered by Anais Danforth for killing the old Headmaster. Justice is justice and the law is hard, but she canât help but question if it is always right.
If they were able to produce a patronus, what would it be?
Aellaâs patronus is a stag. Stag patronuses are typically well rounded individuals, talented in many fields rather than just one in particular. They are also, while very social people who have a natural sort of charm to themselves, more likely to create a smaller group of tight knit friends than have a large network of others. Prone to being judgemental and harsh, stag patronuses easily shun others who they deem unworthy of their time or care. While natural leaders, they are also somewhat intimidating to others.
