Description
An obscuronaut investigates memories and knowledge that the rest of the system has forgotten or repressed — this may include, but is not limited to: headmates/objects/events/places in the system, trauma (if applicable), information about the world, or events in the system's life.
Obscuronauts may also develop theories about forgotten things and seek evidence to prove them. For example, they may theorise that the system experienced abuse in childhood and seek evidence from the outer world (e.g. through conversations, the Internet, physical records such as photo albums, and/or locations where the abuse would have taken place.)
If their system is dissociative, they may experience more blurriness, dissociative symptoms, or brain fog when investigating repressed memories. Alternatively, they may be less affected by dissociation than the rest of the system or accidentally create false memories if jumping to conclusions.
Obscuronauts might work closely with archivists, librarians, or headmates with similar roles to document their findings.

we've been browsing this writers' website out of curiosity and we found this article. I think I may have found another one of those books that Knows What You're Going Through:
excuse me while we cry into the pillow 😭 like. we're not alone. sure our own Unprovable Childhood Trauma Theories are of a more specific nature but. the detective comparisons + the characters being (according to the blurbs) the MC's inner children is just... holy shit. I feel rather stupid, talking so incoherently and onlinely about a literary fiction novel meant for adults, but holy fucking shit. this is huge.
I think (bank account permitting) we're going to buy the ebook. and if we do we will probably not shut up about it
