okay but was Ferdinand groping (Alison as) Sarah purely for the purpose of making (Sarah as) Rachel jealous as some kind of foreplay or something
I love how action-packed the 1st ep of season 3 is
I CAN TELL THAT ITāS SARAH MANNING FAKING RACHEL DUNCAN
BUT BOTH CHARACTERS ARE PLAYED BY THE SAME PERSON
HOW DOES TATMAS DO THIS?!?! HOWWWWW
thereās just something so magnetic when it comes to seeing rachel duncan wielding emotionā¦
even if itās only through sarah as her.

cywlyxn replied to your post āBreaking up with Cosima also seems to me like Delphine is recognizing...ā
I feel like the breakup should have been a longer arc (if even just an episode). It's not ever a problem for Delphine that she cares for Cosima more. It is never shown to impact her work. We should have seen that, not gotten a line from Dr. Nealon.
yeah, i agree, it felt v v out of the blue
Finally, Delphine torturing Rachel was motivated by the fact that Delphine knew that Helsinki was a real threat (more complete knowledge than we had when the scene aired), and had just been tipped off that Rachel had some kind of hidden agenda with whats-his-name. The sadism she exhibits is unsettling, but Delphine has a laundry list of reasons to want vengeance on Rachel (cont. because I really should have sent this as a fan mail)
Rachel manipulated and used her against Sarah, endangering Kira right after Delphine had staked Sarah and Cosima's fragile trust in her on Kira's safety, she then casually discarded Delphine to Europe as an inconvenient tool that had no more use, destroyed Kira's bone marrow that Delphine had worked so hard to ensure Cosima would have, and was just revealed to be plotting something with the man Delphine believed might be planning to kill Cosima, Sarah and Alison.
Her actions with Rachel are unsettling, sure, even downright disturbing, but saying she doesn't have the necessary motivation for that kind of cruelty isn't necessarily true.
oh, iām not at all saying that she doesnāt have a reasonĀ for vengeance--iām saying that she has never, ever shown a propensity toward it before. i could see delphine getting violent in order to serve a purpose--in extreme circumstances--but never sadistically. it was disturbing, definitely, and if it had a purpose, that would be fine! but i really donāt think it had a purpose, at least character-wise. it was a Cool Thing they wanted to do, so they did it.
Breaking up with Cosima also seems to me like Delphine is recognizing that she is emotionally compromised. She's in a position now where she thinks her ability to do what needs to be done might be impaired by the Cosima-centric tunnel vision she's had to this point. She also might have doubts about her ability to take actions in the future that could hurt Cosima, even if those actions are necessary to keep her safe.
okay, i will buy that one! :P but i think since the larger context doesnāt work for me, this specific action being sort of explained is...not enough for me.
