it looks like the writers only made it so he could talk to vicki. and when she was gone, that was the end of it for him.
I don't understand why they'd give him the same ability that Jeremy has only to turn around and say 'oh, it only happens with this one person'. Because he didn't see her just that one time. She followed him around in the next episode too so it was more than just that one night at the school. Like, it wasn't just a near-death experience one time visit, she was able to come back and talk to him a few times.
It's like giving Elena the ability to run fast like a vampire but then turning around and saying 'oh, she's not a vampire.'
