The young people in our @ObamaFoundation Leaders program give me hope. One of those leaders, Luisa Neubauer, is working to fight climate change and recently traveled to Antarctica. This Earth Day, I hope you'll check out her incredible story.

I remember this time in history. And honestly, my recognition of this queer joy, celebration, and monumental victory for the LGBTQIA+ community was overshadowed by my grief for the Emanuel 9. For someone who literally grew up in a church, the assailant's horrific act absolutely terrified me. Similar to every tragic, continuous act of gun violence and hate in this country, I couldn't help but put myself in the victims' and their loved ones shoes. And this juxtaposition of events..on the same day..hit different for me. Those are both my communities... So now, after 10 years, I think this was my moment to sit wholeheartedly with both events..feeling the love and the hurt--no, the love and the grace 🥲
