I had a dream where I snuck into the premiere and did one question of the quiz, saw one of my mutuals and went to use a urinal (I’m a girl) so that’s how much I think about jltg for ya

so jltg19 comes out on the 19th of August and do you know what’s on the 20th?
gcse results day…
money is weird. i don't need to worry about money - i'm a 16yr old who lives with their parents in a commuter town in the south east in of the uk. but because i have a part time job i think of anything in terms of that like i'll just be buying something and be like 'wait that costs half an hour of my saturday'. while yes this is good and shows me the value of money, it also makes me stingy as fuck. even for things i want eg jet lag premiere. i wanted to go but my brain freaked when i saw the price, not because it was too expensive for me to afford but just because i saw a number above 20. i don't really buy a lot of stuff throughout the year but something i buy a lot once (but it's not loads, it just feels like it) and i have a lot of saving from birthday, christmas and working but spending money scares me. and then i feel the fomo consquences for my scrooge-ass behaviors sometimes.
went shopping for sixth form stuff and tried on some pencil skirts and could only rate them on a scale of “Ryanair flight attendant” to “I want to rip my skin off along with this skirt and burn it”
I don’t think I’m gonna wear pencil skirts
I went to watch spider man brand new day (no spoilers don’t worry) and when I was waiting in the cinema, one of the first trailers that played was for the new Christmas carol adaptation “ebenezer” and I got gcse flashbacks. I just wanted to watch a film but I’m haunted

teens on social media and phones from a teen on tumblr
i've never had an instagram, snapchat or tiktok and it's odd. so many of my friends have them. you know that phrase 'strict parents make sneaky kids' well yes this contributes so much to social media-less teens. one of my siblings has a secret snapchat. i do now have instagram (i don't post on there its for looking at famous people) but my parents don't know. neither do my friends. and i would love to have an insta in the same way i would hate to. i recently went camping with some of them and they were stressing so much about what to put on their stories about the trip. i almost didn't take my phone on this trip (because last time we did it we weren't allowed to but this time we were) but in the end i did. and we spent so much time on our phones which was a shame because before we did other things like wordsearch and late night discussions. but this year we stayed up later, had those late night discussions but also had 'late night phone time' which was honestly sad. i can have a new first impression for people. many teens including me feel annoyed about the stereotyping of teens. like how we're moody and addicted to our phones. and they often ask us to comment (our gcse english question was literally about this, in a national exam). but the thing about these stereotypes (and all stereotypes to be fair) is that they see a lot of people doing this and assumes everyone is like this. but we're not but hearing that you are this way kinda makes you that way. now another thing about social media especially ones where you can post and share with your friends doesn't help people pleasing urges because you know what they're expecting of you. thats why its nice to have a tumblr that's just for me because no one i know irl follows it.
now recently in the uk there has been a rise in phone bans which i feel is mainly because of social media. eg under 16s social media ban coming in 2027. while i think this can be good as many have addictions i feel an outright ban won't help because 'strict parents make sneaky kids'. now imagine the parent is the government. there sure are going to be a lot more sneaky kids. also many schools are introducing phone bans. this is pretty bad imo. because many people use them to get to and from school using bus passes and apple pay etc. many people also use them to communicate with their parents. something that has happened to my family recently is that one of my siblings went out cycling in town with their friends (now for context i live in a very safe south east england commuter town, no one is getting mugged here). and my mum gets a frantic call from one of the parents saying 'hey do you know where [my siblings friend] is? they went out and left their phone and i don't know where they are.' my mum said 'oh yeah they went on a bike ride with [my sibling]'. now this happened outside of school. imagine this happening at school. schools only have a responsiblity during the school day so i understand not using phones then as they can be a major distraction to learning. so my school is doing phone pouches to combat this for all years excluding sixth form. while yes this won't actually work (people bringing fake phones to hand in, buying unlockers, out right refusing etc) this is so much better than straight up banning them which other schools in my area are doing. because this creates so many safety issues.
anyway those are my thoughts in a non-linear, jumbled, verbal diarrhoea way, thanks for coming to my ted talk xx
right so as always we’ve got some ted lasso analysis for season 3 because that’s the season I’m on rn.
So Nate is a big point at the start of this season. Over time his hair gets grayer which often implies aging and stress. In season one it’s fully black but now it’s fully grey. It’s shown in his attitude that he’s more stressed as well. Also Nate wears black near the end to imitate Roy who he looks up to.
And the point of him moving to West Ham is because there are so many parallels. The colour scheme is so similar to Richmond although it’s a maroon instead of a red and a light blue instead of a bright blue. It’s like it’s a dimmed down or watered out version of Richmond. You can see this in the office sets too. West Ham is very dark and minimalist whereas richmonds is bright. I can go on and on about colour symbolism but the main point is it’s sadder. Also both teams are west London
I love this show the writers do everything on purpose
