Hi honey, I want to make a shirt with multiple like logos. But I don't know if I should make just one normal map, with no logo in it. Or should I make different projects with different normal maps each one? What would you recommend?
Well if you made a normal map for each one, then each logo would have to be its own package file! So I would make a normal map without a logo. But I personally barely ever make normal maps unless I edit the texture.
A normal map adds the idea of 3D onto a more 2D surface by using the shading. So dark areas on your multiplier (or from whichever pic you make your normal map) will look like dents, and light areas will look like hills. So theoretically if you use a normal bake, then the dark areas are already dents and the light areas already hills (cause that is how it bakes as your mesh already has proper 3D folds), so a normal map wonβt do anything much. Especially under the arms (where there are dark shadows) I find it weird, cause it theoretically turns these arm shadows into dents :/ I usually only make a normal map if I draw on more folds than the clothing/object already has or a very specific texture (say leather to a leather chair), but then you need to realize each recolor will have that texture. Aka if I make a leather chair but have a recolor that people can make fabric, it will still have a leather 3D look!
