“You can’t be serious.” Bakura grabbed Malik and spun him so that he was facing Bakura instead of the mirror. He stared into Malik’s sultry lilac eyes. Malik looked annoyed that he’d been moved and a little confused- as if he honestly didn’t get what Bakura was trying to say. Bakura growled. 

“Malik!” Bakura shouted in frustration, growling a second time. Bakura held his breath a moment and blew it out, trying to calm down and put his thoughts into words. He pressed his forehead against Malik’s for a moment, and then snatched a gentle kiss, still trying to calm himself. He turned Malik back to the mirror, holding his shoulders and leaning forward with him. 

“Look again. Don’t look at the damn make-up. Look at yourself. Really look at yourself. Don’t you see how…” Bakura’s words trailed off. He was looking at Malik’s reflection even as he told Malik to do so, and he was lost in how gorgeous Malik was. Then, without thinking, Bakura sighed, “Oh gods you’re beautiful.”

“This is the beautiful Nzuri - one of the 6 sub-adult Topi Boys in the Maasai Mara. I have nicknamed him ‘Curly’ because he has the most beautiful curly mane. He is going to be even more stunning when that mane of his is fully grown.

We found him lying on this mound right next to a small river crossing before sunrise one morning, and were able to position the car so that we were below him, to pick up some of the colours in the dawn.”
