dorne was the only place on the mainland where she felt free. the seven kingdoms was suffocating . they were as tired of acting the part of a lovely lady but the sweet air of sunspear reminded her that here they did not have to hold her tongue . they had an abundance of happy memories here , training with swords and spears and reading in the palace library .

 ❝ i only worry about rhaena and my grandsires . ❞ baela took a long sip of their wine. secretly she wanted to a change to prove herself in battle , perhaps then she would have the respect of those on the mainland . at the very least, she might get the opportunity to punch her insufferable cousin aemond.  ❝ does dorne plan to remain neutral ? ❞ they asked elia, eyeing her . ❝ i only ask so that we might get politics out of the way . ❞

if there was one thing that oberyn despised, it was sitting through dreadful dinners with lords who thought themselves worthy enough for his sister's hand in marriage. they had been to many places now ; the young viper accompanying his sister because what was even worse than having to sit through these proposals, was the idea that he would not be there to advise her against them. it was only natural for oberyn to find amusement in it. elia was rather sweet and proper in situations such as these which made it even easier for him to jest with her, a reaction that much more of an accomplishment. oberyn is in the middle of toying with this potential suitor, when he is cut off by a sharp kick to the leg.

He can sense the fear in her throat as palpable as Vladimir can taste the blood on his tongue. The grit of bandages against his open cut is enough to numb the burn of pain that shot from his muscles. Those soft fingers are a gentle reminder of who he was in the presence of--of who he was so adamant in protecting. 

“Elia.” He started, voice thick with what heavy sleep had found him in the night. Vladimir could barely remember making it to the castle gates before darkness had consumed his vision. It is only upon waking he knows he is in his room--safe, protected.

“I am fine--.” There’s the faintest smile he can give to his beloved sister, sighing as he covered his hand with her own. It was only natural for her to fret, even in the face of the violence Vladimir had face. “See? I am breathing and I assure you I can certainly walk. It was nothing but a mere scratch.”
