New York Film Academy took part in the 2012 Tribeca NY Fest Soccer Day. The event was held on Saturday, April 24 on Pier 40 in New York City to benefit local kids. The entertainment industry tournament boasts well over 40 teams, including Facebook, ESPN, Tribeca Enterprises, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Sony Pictures Classics, Focus Features and many more.
The celebrities included people from the sports and entertainment industries including Detroit Lions Defensive Back Ndamukong Suh, former US National Team soccer players Claudio Reyna, Jeff Agoos, Brian McBride, Eddie Lewis, Chris Armas, along with a plethora of entertainment talent.Â
Even though I wasn’t really honest with myself in highschool…the whole being gay thing was the worst thing you could ever possibly be…like that was the epitome of like…you could not get lower in my highschool. Everyone was called the F word.
- Chris Colfer (x)
I've always wondered about Chris' experience about being gay in Clovis. Whenever he talked about bullying, he only ever talked about being bullied because he was very loud spoken, or very different. Only in one interview did he talk about his town's attitude to gay people, the one he did in New Zealand. It sticks very clearly in my mind because he says something like 'People were killed for that'. And from behind the quality of a grainy youtube video and my computer screen, separated by almost two years of the time of the interview's filming to when I was watching it, I felt terrified for him.
It's probably mostly out of tact that he hasn't mentioned anything else about it, legal things and whatnot, but I can't help but think how much worse things could have gotten for him if he hadn't gotten out of there, how bad things may still be for the younger Chris'. For that alone, for being that escape he so badly needed, even though it was done indirectly, I think I'll probably always like Glee, no matter what screwed up paths are ahead for it.Â
