just found this weird bird-bat thing eating my trash, can anyone identify what it could be?
Nyctosaurus was a pterosaur from the late Cretaceous US. Weird critter best known for the fancy head crest, but it also deserves mention for being so adapted to aerial life that it decided to ditch its fingers.
This is Beaky!
His kind are a cliff-dwelling species of flying-reptiles typically found nesting on the rocky outcrops off the coast of Pabu. He was discovered by Dogma shortly after his arrival on the island, while on a walk in the aftermath of an especially ferocious storm. He spotted this tiny little survivor washed ashore and barely clinging to life. His immediate instinct was to help, and he carefully bundled Beaky into a soft beach towel and brought him straight home.
Immersing himself in every available resource on the holonet, Dogma diligently worked to to understand Beaky's specific needs, diet, and recovery process. With love, patience, and a healthy dose of worry, he nursed this little guy almost completely back to health.
And while Beaky made incredible strides in a short time, his flight remained wobbly, making him vulnerable in the open air. But in the meantime, he had become quite the beloved companion. He perfected what had been affectionately named the "treat-turn,β an adorable spin on his little feet whenever he anticipated a reward! And even though to this day he's still learning the finer points of interacting with people's hands, his playful nips are becoming gentler all the time. Sweet little Beaky is a testament to resilience and the extraordinary bond that can form between unexpected friends! π₯°ππ
