Circular Windows
When we think of window mats, we typically think of square or rectangular openings. However, window openings can also be circular or oval. While they are not as common as rectangles or squares, they can be very elegant when used appropriately.
The ketubah above was designed as a circle, so using a circular window opening was really a no-brainer. Our client wanted an accent color to separate the paper base from the mat, so we used a 12 ply mat and painted the bevel to match the maroon in the center of the flowers. To finish it off, we chose frame in a simple shape, leafed in 22k gold with a red rub underneath that tied everything together.
This was a simple and elegant design and was a beautiful way to frame a piece that our clients will cherish forever.
