From 1959 until 1973 the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship had a very different look than it has today. It's often times referred to as the crown belt because of the royal crown on the top. Pat O'Connor was the first man to hold the crown belt. He defeated Dick Hutton to become champion. Six more men would hold this championship; Buddy Rogers, Lou Thesz, Gene Kiniski, Dory Funk Jr., and Harley Race. It would be replaced with the Iconic Ten Pounds of Gold. But the majesty of this title still remains a sign of excellence in professional wrestling. http://www.alliance-wrestling.com/?s=ten+pounds+of+gold #nwahistory #wrestlinghistory #nwablog #nwaworldsheavyweightchampion #nwavlog #nwafam #wrestling #championship #worldchampion https://www.instagram.com/p/CMQQUYypA4m/?igshid=zw465sps0dl5
