Prayers and "Good Vibes"
This new trend (relatively new, anyway) has hit social media like a lead weight. Someone posts something going on in their life and then follows with one of the following:
"Please send prayers and good vibes!"
Or, "Please send good vibes."
Good vibes, or, good vibrations (also positive vibrations) is New Age Philosophy. Essentially, focus "positive energy" in one's direction. While "positive thoughts" are used in Holistic Medicine (found particularly powerful in battling cancer), most who post this do not understand this. Often, "Good Vibes" is a replacement for "prayers".
Ask yourself, "How can prayer possibly hurt me, even if I don't believe?" Examining your heart condition may reveal something else going on. If we're sick, and desperately need prayer, every weapon in our friends' arsenal is needed, no matter what our personal hangups on their personal beliefs are. "Good Vibes" absent of the Father's healing touch are just flowery language. Yes, positive thinking was designed to be a weapon against all kinds of ailments, but when coupled with prayer, they are even more powerful. By themselves, often, they are just feel-good talk. When you are laid up with the likes of Ebola, the farthest thing from your mind should be making yourself feel merely emotionally uplifted. Go for the full court press, and give disease both barrels.
But one more thing. "Good Vibes" must be yours. One can not effectively help kill a disease from 100 miles away with his or her own "good vibes". In fact, they do nothing at all. Unless they pray for your sake, they are just internal thoughts going nowhere, and ending with little travel. Remember how this is all designed, who designed it, and His purpose. To glorify Him. Someone in Sheboygan sending "good vibes" to someone in Sun City, Florida is just wasting energy that doesn't travel anywhere. Want to get well? Seek prayer. Seek God.
