Feeling very lucky I got a whole day with one of my favourite nurses yesterday 😁💖 Carol-Ann is an excellent nurse, but also at this point a good friend. I like her because she doesn’t panic or fuss, she gets shit done, has a great sense of humour and irony, is up for an adventure, and appreciates ice cream as much as I do! My mum likes her because when I make suggestions like “I know I only got out of hospital yesterday, but I thought I’d go to the gym today” Carol-ann can shut that shit down with a simple “No” 😂! Yesterday Carol-ann showed she knows me so well now that she knew I’d want to go to Costa for breakfast before my hospice appointment, where we enjoyed a yummy brekky in the sun ☀️. She then accompanied me to @cityhospice for my first ever complimentary therapies session with them. The fact she has a similar sense of humour to mine shone through when the ambulance transport arrived to take us to the hospice and the one nurse, Beth, said kindly “have a good day out”! “Have a good day out...” Carol-ann said, “...at the hospice? Not a a sentiment you hear often!” Me and her were still cackling about it when I got on the ambulance; the ambulance man did not think it was funny 🙈 but we certainly did 😂! After my reflexology session at the hospice we enjoyed lunch in the garden (one of my favourite places). And when we got home, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and walk to Victoria Park, where we enjoyed an ice cream 🍦! It’s been really lovely getting to spend several full days with Carol-ann recently, and we’ve really enjoyed getting to know each other better. Our working relationship has definitely strengthened as a result, and Carol will be able to do an even better job as my nurse now she knows me even better as a person.
