NULLSTUCK
I guess 2015 is turning out to be a more cinematic approach to MSPFA, because we yet again open on another beginning animation before we get to the standard bedroom chicanery that Sburbventures are known for. It’s always nice to see this trick employed, because it always does signal a higher amount of ambition to the story being told, and it does add intrigue to the proceedings (which the main sound effect in this flash being the repetitive ticking of the clock, mixed with the grey of the buildings, adds so much to the atmosphere of).
Prose in this story is rather middling. Hey, here’s this game, we don’t know much about it. But the introduction of a different modus than just the modus being a simple inventory system is another nice sign to see. The introduction to the character being it’s own mini-screen is also a neat detail as well, adds some visual flair. The animation is also a lot smoother than Homestuck’s, which is par for the course at this point in my journey quite honestly. I guess Hussie was just really, really bad at making animations, or just really good at making them as janky as she wanted them to look.
I think I’ve seen enough to basically tell you that this fanadventure is competently made, but certainly not endearing enough to make me feel compelled to read more. Still, considering the fanadventures I HAVE read, that’s enough to make it feel like a welcome reprise! Yay, this author knows at least a little bit about how to write a fanadventure and is trying to accomplish something through storytelling!
