six word story
I went travelling, found my home.
Iiliit really never felt likeĀ Nuussuaq was home. With less than 300 people living there, there werenāt many opportunities. It was either become a fisherman like her step-dad or drink herself into a coma like her mother. Neither of which appealed to her.
Many young people in that town generally stayed there or went off and came back because they were homesick. In fact, when she announced that sheād be leaving, everyone said the same thingā Youāll be back.
Not one part of her wanted to believe this was true but it did almost seem so. Denmark, her birth fatherās home. A place where many Greenlanders went to make something of themselves, just didnāt fit her. The school she went to didnāt interest her, the people that attempted to befriend her werenāt the type she wanted to associate with. Was it really time for her to go home and admit she was wrong already?
All over Europe she would search for some place to fit in, for some place she felt accepted without trying.Ā
Spain, France, Germany, Italy. None of them really appealed to her, she just couldnāt see herself settling down in one of them.Ā
Somehow, finally, she had ended up in England. Cambridge, specifically. Studying natural sciences.Ā
Still, her eyes wandered as she took to reading at a table by herself. Would she honestly click with anyone here?
A wrapper hit her and landed gently on the book in her lap. Suddenly, a peculiar Asian boy was coming her way with the food he had unwrapped in his mouth. He pulls it out after taking a bite into it and points at the plastic,Ā āWas aiming for the trash. Would you mind?āĀ
Looking down at it for a moment, she finally picks it up and holds it out to him,Ā āTry againā¦Maybe youāll get it this time. Iāll pretend I never even saw it land in the wrong place.āĀ
He makes a face at her and groans, taking it from her. The boy makes the shot andā¦
āāāā-
āYou really suck at this Leonā¦ā The Greenlander laughed as he missed the shot to the trash can yet again. It was the same result as the first time they had met.Ā
Leon shoved her off the top of the bench they sat on but she quickly scrambled up; throwing her own food wrapper and having it land right in the trash where it belonged. Hopping up, she pumped her fist into the air,Ā āVictoryāā
An ice cream hit her and slowly slid down her shirt, her eyes narrowed at the Hong Konger and she tackled him with her own popsicle in hand. This meant war.

Finally though, she knew she never wanted these silly days to end with her new and first best friend.
She found a home and it was wherever he was.
