First of all I think hes gay, and I guess closeted? He doesn't really talk about it with anyone but I doubt he'd care for any type of labels.

I always joke about him being like ennis from brokeback mountain, really repressed and pretty much self sabotages his opportunities to get closer to yamcha in that way, ofc without the sex part.. I think tien it's too proper and devoted to martial arts to let himself fall into temptations like those, which is why I compare him to ennis, he's not afraid of homophobia or I think he'd be worried about those things, but he would be worried that if he doesn't follow the "perfect martial artists" example he won't be anything.

From the crane school we know he put a lot of self worth into what he could do in that sense , so now that he's not with the crane school he's learned a lot, but he still has that little bug in him that asks "if I'm not a martial artists.. what am I?" So he avoids things that would make him lose that position? Like falling into a domestic life and such.

I think his relationship with lunch never came to be becuase.. well it was one sided, but it definitely made him look to others like the guy that doesn't wanna deal with romance, which was what he was looking for after all.

I think he'd started liking yamcha right from the start, the crane school seem really restrictive from who they were allowed to talk to and bond with, so seeing a handsome strong guy his age for the first time ever kinda shook him a bit, lol!! But besides that I don't think he started falling for yamcha until the 23rd budokai, where after some time of not seeing each other he realized how much he liked being around yamcha, but the tao paipai event made him realize a normal life was not something meant for him so he started just repressing all those feelings until in super where he started changing his approach in life, which was in his 40s? But in db they live up to 200 so it was in a young age lets say

Yamchas pov

I think he is bisexual, but he doesn't use those type of words.. they're both men in their 40s that were young in the 80s so..

I think he has chronic heteronormativity in his brain, to me he only had two girlfriends, bulma and the mystery girl he mentioned at the end of the cell saga, so with that I think hes reaaallly the type to date seriously only, he doesn't go around hooking up or anything, but he is really experienced, and he's really mature with feelings and how to handle situations, he tends to avoid conflict that's true, and the important part here is that he neeeeeevverrr is open about his own feelings in a more deeper way, for example; you see him cry, but it's always for other people, he cried when goku gets hurt or stuff like that, but you will never see him cry for his own personal feelings, he's really introverted in that way, he's not one to think too negatively about anything also, so his bad romantic life or how he kinda failed on the goals he had in mind when he was young is something that bothers him, but it's not something he will be thinking about so much he's depressed or anything y'know? Thinking about his feelings that way.. I think he wouldn't realize he has the possibility to fall for guys too. He's a simple guy, he learned that women and men get married and have children and have a beautiful life together, and even if he knows things can be in another way he doesn't see that for himself, when he think tiens is oddly attractive for him he doesn't think "wow, do I like tien no?!" He's like.. average straight guy about it.. the only way you'd make him realize he actually is into guys is by an event that could beeee people asking him if he likes tien becuase of the way they interact with each other, or tien straight up confessing his feelings for him, someone telling him that he should try being with guys, whatever! Yamcha is a really smart character, but he's also really simple and that simplicity comes with maybe missing some things that he never thought would be important.

His approach with being bi would be really chill.. he's not like beating himself over liking guys, but he is really embarrassed that he's not good at being with guys, he's experienced with dating women and when he tries out doing anything with a guy, a really masculine guy, he realizes that he doesn't know how to do that, he doesn't know how to treat a guy without falling into hetereonormativity, same the other way around, when he's put into situations where he could be more vulnerable he might feel emasculated? He won't be mad about it but he sure is learning new ways! I like to think he would be really shy about being grabbed by tien.. he's way too used to being the taller and more muscular in his relationships so growing from something to the total opposite of it is kinda crazy to him, yamcha's part isn't as dramatic as tien's, so it's more about him letting himself be into guys without feeling like a total fool or impostor.

Well that's it, when I think of hc for them I think about.. how men their age think and act but also take reaaalllyyy in count their upbringing and personality, so be sure I have so much more to say..

I feel like its impossible for them to not become friends (lovers) no matter how mucn they can hate each other, even less when their similarities are so clear and when they dont have anyone else to be with

Like Tien doesnt have anyone else but yamcha and he doesnt even like yamcha that much but the little comfort he gives him its enough for him to want more

And yamcha feels pretty much the same way, they both find a new feeling and comfort to "hating" someone new

And tbh i dont think tien could really live the life tao had, he really isnt a bad person so its hard to imagine him really enjoying being bad and even handeling the abuse tsuru and tao put him and chaoz through for a longer time

I dont have thaaat many thoughts tbh i just wanted to make a cool yamcha design and make tien wear pink jajaja

But someof them are like uhhh I think that tien is pretty similar to how he is when he's already redeemed but gets more easily annoyied and mad just like in 22nd budokai

Yamcha is the same but his cocky side is still really present but overall he's really nice and chill

Yamcha already was a recognized bandit in a movie so i want to think everyone knows him at least by name and that includes tien but he doent care about yamcha

And well tien is just as famous as tao was so yamcha also knows him for that and thats why they kinda respect each other tho yamcha likes to tease tien

They say they hate each other but theyre kinda like friends but the way their lifes are doesnt let them get attached to many people even less for tiens part
