"NU-LIFE" at Gallery Korea Group Show, "Unsettled"
tomorrow on thursday, nov 16, gallery korea (of the korean cultural center of NY) will have its opening reception for the group show, "unsettled"
"Unsettled reveals multilateral aspects of unstable and precarious states in the artistsā lives. The works in the exhibition examine the process of introspection of the unstable state in various ways, reflecting on insecure social systems and expressing these changeable, even volatile situations in their own ways. Together, the artists are allowing the audience to get a glimpse of how the seemingly negative concept of āunsettlementā can be elevated and beautified through art."

NU-LIFE has been invited to this group show, and i will be there to represent it and to admire the other work...! if you are near the area, feel free to join me in seeing the work of other artists who are working with themes of immigration, uproot, identity politics, and the act of settling or unsettling. : )
been a busy year! i got to travel to Bucheon, South Korea to see NU-LIFE in competition and that was a blast. beyond seeing family, i got to make some lovely new friends. animators are always such chill folks.Ā
anyways, iāve been settling back into the groove of work at the museum and--and!!Ā work on a new film! tentatively titled,Ā ālupineā, i got to spend some time with it this weekend and create some preliminary designs + animations...Ā
thought i would share some pics of my awesome students at the Eagle Hill High School working away on their charcoal animations. theyāre coming along really beautifully! :ā)
also, the trailer for NU-LIFE is up!Ā
currently busy submitting it to festivals like a madman, and iām keeping my fingers crossed that it will get to travel a bit and see the world. wish me luck~
and oh,Ā TOROĀ has still been running around at festivals and screenings! recently it played at the Portsmouth Short Film NightĀ Ā and at ASIFA East in NY. itās scheduled soon for another date in good oleā NYC at the DUM-D Student Animation Festival in South Bronx. will post more info as itās made available, but iām pretty sure iāll be present for the screening and the following Q&A.Ā

my latest animated short film "nu-life" is almost finished! edit is mostly done but i'm currently holding off on calling it complete, since there may be some last minute fixings' and fussing around with things.
check out my new page for it on my website if you're curious though! thought i would upload some spare stills here that didn't make it on the site. will definitely post the video once it's ready to go :')Ā
the film was completed during my STAR artist residency at the Cultural Center at Eagle Hill. they're now accepting applications for the upcoming year, so give it a shot!! it's wonderful. they provide free housing, meals, access to facilities (the gym here is amazing), and a modest stipend and artist budget to help you get going. if anyone wants to apply and/or has questions, you're welcome to message or e-mail me at [email protected] :}Ā
Removing Nu-Life Spray?
Cosplay friends: Does anyone know if it's possible to remove Nu-Life spray from matte vinyl/pleather without ruining the material underneath? I have a pair of black thigh-high boots that I painted for a previous cosplay... and I'd like to get them back to black if possible, to use as a base for my Yavana boots. (Saving money and closet space!) I tried Googling variations on "remove Nu Life", but didn't turn up anything on how best to get it off.
