FFT FELLOW NAMED TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Congratulations FFT Fellow Sydney Chaffee, just named Teacher of the Year by the Council of Chief State School Officers. Sydney teaches at Codman Academy, a public charter school in Boston. On her Fund for Teachers fellowship, Sydney witnessed post apartheid-era restorative justice efforts in South Africa to inform her school's Fairness Committee and justice-centered curriculum.Â
"When smart, driven teachers are given time and space to collaborate, we can help all of our students in all of our schools succeed. We have a lot of work to do, but we can achieve so much for kids when we commit-together-to being simultaneously optimistic and daring," she said. Â
