I thought this was a very interesting, because in today’s world, it is often thought of being very horrible to be a woman. The word is often thrown around and associated with weakness and full of emotions that cloud thinking. This is absolutely false. Phrases like “you run like a girl” or “you act like such a girl” are absolutely silly, because even though we know what the phrases refer to, associating the words weak and slow to a girl is just unnecessary. We should all rather try to just describe people the way they are rather than just comparing everything “bad” to women. Us women are so much better than what the world describes us as. 

     I also loved how she constantly said that humans have the power to learn and build on to the things they already know about, so no matter now much you feel like you’re leaving your passion behind, you can always constantly learn. I also loved how she said that you do not have to have a plan for the future, as long as you do something you love.

I was going through tumblr posts and I happened to come across these pictures. In a world filled with millions of women and men, there seems to be so much ignorance going around. It is very ironic that these men and many other men in today’s society often label women as being “sluts” and not respectable people in society, but when these very men do the things that they preach is wrong is very incorrect. Regardless of what a woman does or even a man for that matter, it is none of society’s business. But when people say things like not having self-respect while posting pictures about women, but do the same things it is not correct. Posting about women in general in a rude, wrong, and irresponsible way should not be promoted at all. We, as a society, should therefore work on being more respectful and responsible to a woman!!!

       Being born into a hindu family, I felt that I was basically born into a group of values and beliefs. I thought I would be looked down upon for wanting to have my own set of beliefs or part of another religion if I wanted to, but I was comfortable with being a hindu. I went to the temple when my parents told me to, prayed to god when my parents did, and asked for forgiveness when people did. But I used to not realize that religion is just not what you follow for the sake of it. You have to believe in what you are following. Throughout the plenary, such ideas of what I had learned over the past few years were being reinforced. I started to remember that religion gives one acceptance in a community and shared beliefs. It empowers you as an individual if you follow it truly. I started to realize if these women were being open and confident about their religions, so could I. Talking about my religion or my beliefs in any way may offend some people but at the end of the day, it empowers me an individual and moreover as a woman. 

       I really appreciated how she told us to have individuality in such a world and to be empowering. Although she did not know what she was doing when she first started her show, she kept trying and ended up being successful at the end of it all. Her message to be empowering and inspiring really spoke to me the most!
