Reiken closed the door behind him. Â Quickly he walked to the kitchen, putting the basket down on the counter. Â It was empty but for a few jar of jam and pickled vegetables. Â
A slight smiled pulled on his face as he took it out and started putting it away.
Just as he turned to go to the back door a knock came from the front. Â He sighed, looking over at the door. Â For a moment he considered just ignoring it before walking over to the door. Â
Reiken opened the door, before immediately looking down at the floor. Â "Sigurd..." he said softly, stepping back. Â
Sigurd looked at him and nodded. Â "Reiken" he said "We need to talk"
"Of course...." Reiken whispered, still not looking at the other guy.
"Reiken.... Â There's a new nest of Demons" Sigurd said, without stepping into the cottage. Â
Frowning Reiken looked at Sigurd for the first time. Â "Why not send the others?" he asked "I'm.... Â I don't like leaving the mountain"
Sigurd shook his head. Â "They are all busy with other demons" he said "This is a new nest... Â So it shouldn't take you to long"
Reiken stared at Sigurd for a moment. Â "Where is it?" he asked.
"It's a day's travelling from here" Sigurd said, watching Reiken. Â
For a second Reiken's eyes widened, realizing what Sigurd was telling him. Â "....here...?" he whispered and Sigurd nodded "Why... Â Why didn't you... tell me earlier?"
"We only just found out" Sigurd said.
Reiken frowned, before he nodded, looking down at the ground. Â "Alright..." he said "I'll go..."
"Good" Sigurd said before stepping back "Don't take to long"
"I... I wouldn't..." Reiken said, kicking at the ground. Â After a few seconds, he looked up, noticing that Sigurd left without a word. Â
He spun and quickly, darting into the cottage, grabbing his coat, before rushing outside. Â
Close....
There was a demon nest close to the village. Â He had to take care of this before the nest grows to big to him to handle. Â
Without taking anything with him, Reiken left for the village that was about a day's way from him. Â He had to hurry up, before the demons start attacking the village, if they haven't already started. Â
***
Reiken twisted before driving the dagger into the demon's head. Â Out of breath, he stepped back, eyes flickering around as he made sure that all of the demons were dead. Â
His chest hurt where on of the demons hit him. Â
Slowly he walked back, before lifting his hand. Â He could feel the slight burn running up his wrist from the bracelet. Â Fire leapt up from the demon corpses and a stench filled the air. Â
Reiken stepped back even more before he sat down on the grass, watching the flames. Â It took a while before the fires started dying down. Â
After a few more minutes, he got to his feet, glancing up at the skies. Â The sun was already setting again, becoming dark. Â Shaking his head, he turned towards the village and started walking. Â
He just needed to make sure that they were alright, before he could go back home. Â It was just like Sigurd said, a new nest that just started. Â
New nests were either easy to take care of, or extremely hard. Â
Slowly he walked down to the village. Â His body hurt and throbbed painfully from being thrown around by the demons. Â
The moment he stepped into the village he could feel that something was wrong. Â His eyes flickered around, searching for what was making him feel so uncomfortable. Â
That's when he noticed it. Â
A group of people was gathering around a guy. Â It looked like they were teaming up on him.
Reiken hesitated, not wanting to get involved in more trouble, until he saw the the plants moving slightly, growing.
"...please... I didn't do anything" the young man said, stepping back, lifting his hands in surrender. Â
"You're the reason all of this happened..." one of the men snapped, waving a pitch fork at the young man "Why those things attacked the village. Â It's all because of you!"
Reiken gasped softly before limping towards the people. Â He couldn't let this happen. Â That young man was a Navoscia.
As he reached the group, one of the tried to stab the young man with a pitch fork. Â Immediately Reiken caught the weapon, stopping it from touching the young man. Â
"Please... stop...." he said softly.
"What are you doing?" the man snapped "He's the reason that this place was attacked"
Reiken shook his head slightly. Â "No..." he whispered "He is not..."
"Like hell he's not" the man snapped "We're throwing him into prison"
"No" Reiken said softly "Please don't..."
"What do you want us to do then?" the man snapped, "Those demons will come back if we don't get rid of him"
"Leave him..." Reiken said gently "I... Â Take me.... Â Take me instead..."
"No..." the young man behind him said. Â
"Please..." Reiken said "Take me.... Â Don't hurt him.... Â He's not... Â he's not a danger..."
The man slammed the shaft of the pitch fork into Reiken's middle. Â He gasped and doubled over. Â Something slammed into the side of his head. Â His eyes rolled back and he crumbled to the ground.
Reiken could hear someone calling out.
He didn't know the voice. Â Strange voice in a place he did not know. Â Pain echoing through his body. Â The fight against the demons had drained him, he didn't have anything left.
Slowly the darkness started to pull him down into blissful darkness. Â
***
Reiken slowly opened his eyes. Â It took him a moment before he realized that he was in cell. Â Every part of his body throbbed painfully. Â
Taking deep breath, he slowly started sitting up. Â
The room turned and he almost fell back down again. Â It took him a moment before he cell stopped turning. Â
As that happened, he started sitting up again. Â For a second he felt dizzy again, so he leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes. Â Slowly Reiken breathed out and pulled knees up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them. Â
He stayed like that, until footsteps came to the door and opening it. Â
One of the villagers stepped into the cell. Â "Who the hell are you?" he man snapped at Reiken "And what are you doing here?"
Reiken looked up at the man. Â "I... Â I'm... I was... sent here to.. take care of the demons.." he said softly, as he looked away. Â
The man took two steps over to Reiken before backhanding him through the face. Â
"YOU...." he snapped "You're the reason that we were attacked...."
Reiken coughed, curling up on his side just before the man started kicking him. Â He felt something in his chest snap. Â The taste of blood filled his mouth.
Someone came rushing into the cell, pulling the man away from Reiken. Â
He couldn't hear what was being said, before the door closed and silence fell over the cell. Breathing hurt. Â His body hurt even more. Â
Reiken started coughing. Â He just taste more blood, the coppery taste filling his mouth. Â Then he started trembling, just curling up where he lay. Â Blood dripped down the corner of him mouth. Â
A shiver ran through him and he closed his eyes. Â
Time started ticking away and he had no idea how long he'd been in there. Â Until a soft knocking came from the door, before it opened. Â A gentle hand touched Reiken's shoulder. Â
".... why did you defend me...?" an unfamiliar voice asked as something warm wrapped around his shoulders "...that was reckless.... you don't even know me..."
Reiken managed to open his eyes slightly. Â A blurred figure stood over him. Â
"...navoscia..." he mumbled, before he started coughing again.
The figure cussed, quickly holding something against Reiken's mouth that he could cough into.
"...You've got a fever..." the voice said ".... and you're coughing up blood... Â I need to get you some medicine..."
Reiken just stared at the figure before his vision started to fade again. Â
He had no idea how long he was out this time, but as he started waking up, there was someone else with him, urging him to drink something. Â Reiken tried to do as the voice said.
If they wanted to poison him, he just didn't care at the moment. Â
The warm mix, felt good down his sore throat.
Soft cussing sounded from the one with him. Â "I have to go..." the voice said before disappearing, leaving Reiken alone again. Â
Reiken started fading again.
When he came to again, there was a familiar voice talking to him. Â It took him a while before he realized that it was Hein and Gruen. Â
"Rei?" Hein's voice asked "Hey can you hear me?"
Reiken's eyes flickered open, before focusing on Hein and Gruen. Â The two guys glanced at each other.
"It's alright, Rei" Gruen said, looking at Reiken's pale face "We're here.... Â You're save now"
Reiken let out a whimper, before nodded. Â His body exhausted as he just slumped against Hein. Â
"...sorry..." he whispered as he closed his eyes.
"It's alright, Rei..." Hein said, glancing at Gruen "You're save.... Â We're going home"

Tyler flinched away as Arthur started cleaning the wound on his shoulder. He just closed his eyes and leaned slightly forward. A sharp pain shot through his back and into his head. It felt like lightning bolts. Â
âMaster Tylerâ the old man said
âNot today, Arthurâ Tyler muttered âI donât have the energy for thisâ
The old man just nodded and continued on in silence. Tyler sighed and opened his eyes.  âIâm sorry, Arthurâ he said and got up âI should get back to workâ
âAre you sure about that, Master Tyler?â
Tyler just pulled on his braided black hair. Maybe he should just cut it of. It would confuse so many people if the NightAngel suddenly ran around with short hair, just like when he started to grow out his hair. Â
The NightAngel always had long hair, well as far as he could remember they did. And always black, apparently the NightAngel magic did something to make it happen. Â
Arthur watched him for a moment before he nodded and handed Tyler his mask. He took it and walked toward the door. âIâm sorry for making you worry, Arthurâ he said as he paused at the door. When the old man did not say anything, he opened the door and slipped out.  Â
As soon as the door closed behind him, he leaned back against it. He pressed his hand against his head. His body felt like it was burning. It was a surprise that Arthur did not notice the fever, otherwise the old man would never have let him go. Â
He tried to supress the shiver and it caused a bot of pain to shoot through him body. Â
His limbs felt heavy. Â
The constant pain as he moved burned through him as he pushed himself away from the door and shot into the air. Â
***
Tyler crashed through the ice and plunged into the ice-cold water. It felt good. Â
For a moment he just enjoyed the relieve from constant burning that went through his body. After a few second he shot up, again breaking through the ice and landed on the ground. Â
He coughed, sinking to his knees. Â
âNightAngel are you alright?â Danielle asked walking up to him. Â
âBloody peachyâ he growled his voice sounded hoarse as he started coughing again âAre we finished here?â
Danielle watched him for a moment longer before she shook her head.  âWeâre doneâ she said âChris took them out to where they belongâ
âThen Iâm leavingâ Tyler said, slowly getting to his feet. Before he could stand up something slammed into his shoulders, throwing him onto the ice. The ice beneath his feet cracked and a hand shot up, grabbed his ankle, dragging him down into the freezing water. Â
Seconds before his head were pulled under the water, he took one last gulp of air. Â
Sharp nails raked over his back. More pain ripped through him and air escaped from his mouth. He swallowed a mouth full of water and kicked out towards what ever held on to his leg. Â
His leg twisted and he felt a snap, causing him to scream. Â
Fury ripped through him and threw his hands out towards the sides. The lines started forming on his exposed skin as he activated the vectors around him. Water exploded around him and he were thrown up into the air, gasping. He threw his hand down. For a moment nothing happened and then the water turned red as the creature that dragged him under water were ripped to pieces.Â
A new wave of pain ripped through his body and for a moment everything went dark around him as he plummeted to the ground.Â
He crashed into a piece of ice, causing it to crack. Â
Tyler groaned, closing his eyes.  âOuch....â he hissed âI wanna go homeâ
Slowly he turned on his side, before pushing himself up to his knees. For a moment all he could do was stare at the blood on the ice. He just blinked at the blood. Swearing he got to his feet, swaying slightly as he moved from the ice. Â
âNightAngelâ Danielle called out âAre you alright?â
Tyler coughed again before he threw up. Heaving onto the ground. All that came out was water, since he havenât eaten anything since breakfast the previous day. Â
After a moment he just slumped onto the ground, gasping for breath. His head felt like it was going to explode. And then there was the sore throat. Â
âIâm fineâ Tyler said when a shadow fell over him.  Slowly he sat up, glaring at Danielle and the others.  âYou can leave now. Because Iâm done. Iâm going home now and going to sleepâ
Chris just watched him with a raise eyebrow.  âYou are just getting friendlier by the day, are you Nightâ
Tyler flipped a rude sign at Chris before he started coughing again. Â
âYeah, heâs fineâ Jack said from behind Chris âWe should just leave him hereâ
âListen to him...â Tyler grumbled before coughing into his hand again â...and bug ofâ
Slowly the others left, until only Tyler and Danielle remained. Â
âAre you sure youâre alright?â she asked, tilting her head slightly.
Tyler pulled face a her.  âWhy donât you just go away, Danielle?â he asked âBecause I really donât like youâ
Danielle watched him for a moment longer before she nodded and left.
Tyler slowly got to his feet. For a moment the world around him turned and he stumbled slightly. A sharp pain shot through his shoulder. He flinched at it, but pushed it to the back of his mind along with the constant pain that throbbed through his body. Â
Taking a deep breath he shot up into the air, making his way toward the mansion. Â
When he landed, he stumbled slightly, coughing again and pressed his hand against his head. The bloody headache just did not want to go away, pounding at the inside of his scull. Â
Shivers started running through his body. When he tried to open the door, his hands did not want to work, they fumbled and trembled. Â
Tyler blew on his hands, feeling the iciness of the lake burning through his limbs. Sudden exhaustion hit him like a ton of brick and he almost collapsed right there. Â
After his third try he finally managed to open the door and stumbled into the mansion. Â
âHey Ty, you home?â a voice called.Â
River. Â
âRiver...â he muttered just as the boy entered the kitchen.
âCrap man, you look terribleâ the little boy said âDid you go for a swim or something? Youâre bloody soakingâ
Tyler nodded, rubbing his arms.  âWhereâs the old man?â he asked, winching at the slight slur in his speech. Â
Well that cannot be good. The old man was going to furious at him. Â
âHeâs busy up stairsâ River said âYou want me to call him?â
Tyler started coughing.  âI donât feel so well...â he groaned as his legs gave in under him. Â
Riverâs eyes widened.  âShit, youâre bleedingâ he said quickly walking over to Tyler âCome on. Iâm taking you to your roomâ
The corner of Tyler mouth pulled into a slight smile and he allowed the boy to pull him up and help him walk to his room. They stumbled and River glance at Tyler. Â
For a moment it looked like the older boy was about fall asleep or pass out or something. He coughed and his eyes flickered closed. Â
âARTHUR!â River yelled, causing Tyler to flinch âThereâs something wrong with TYLERâ
Within second he could hear Arthur moving towards them.
***
Tyler curled up on his side, shivering violently. He couldnât seem to remember what happened. It was all in a jumble, so confusing. He could hear Arthurâs voice somewhere in the darkness. Â
Arthur sighed as he watched Tyler withering on the bed. Â
âBring me another blanket, Master Riverâ he said, nodding towards the boy. Â
River hesitated for a moment before he turned and left the room. Tyler was already covered in blankets and warm water bottles, but he was still shaking and shivering. Â
âWhat have you done Tyler?â he asked, frowning when he placed a hand on Tyler forehead. Â
He was burning up, coughing and shivering.
âIs he going to be alright, Arthur?â River asked, standing in the door. Â
Arthur looked at River for a moment before turning his attention back to Tyler.  âIt seems like heâs fighting hypothermia and some kind of infectionâ he said âNow come help me. I need to take a look at his shoulderâ
The little boy hesitated for a moment before he walked over to Arthur. Arthur frowned as he started taking of the bandage that covered the wound on Tylerâs shoulder. The wound on Tylerâs shoulder was swollen and red. Â
âIt is going to be troubleâ the old man whispered before turning his attention to River again âThe first aid, boyâ
River jumped and ran out of the room. Â
When he returned, Arthur cleaned the wound again. Tyler squirmed and coughed and shivered.Â
For hours Arthur and River stayed by Tylerâs side. Tyler struggled to breath, coughing and shivering. Â
âTake it easy, Master Tylerâ Arthur said as Tylerâs eyes flickered open for the first time. Â
â...Arthur...?â
âIâm here, Master Tylerâ the old man said.
âIâm cold....â
âYou had hypothermia, Master Tyler and an infectionâÂ
Tyler muttered something, his eyes struggling to focus on Arthur.  âIâm sorry....â he whispered. Â
âMaster Riverâ Arthur said âTake care of Master Tyler. Iâll bring him some food to eatâ
River nodded and quickly climbed onto the bed. Â
âHey Tylerâ the boy said, grinning at the confused looked in Tylerâs eyes âArthurâs going to get you something to eat. So donât go to sleep again, you hear meâ
Tyler coughed again, but it sounded better than before.  âRiver...â he muttered.
When Arthur returned, he helped Tyler to sit up.
The young man was still barely able to move. He struggled keep his eyes open. Â
âCome eat something, Master Tylerâ the old man said. Â
Tyler just shook his head slightly.  âNot hungry...â he muttered âArthur... It hurts...â
The old man sighed.  âEatâ he said âAnd then I will bring you the medicineâ
Slowly he picked up the spoon and started eating. After every bit, he had to stop and rest. It went slowly but he finished the food and looked at Arthur. Â
âPlease...â he whispered âI canât take it any more... It hurts....â
Arthur sighed and nodded. Â
Tyler groaned as he lay back. It took him a while before he realised that Arthur disappeared. The pain throbbed through him, burned through his body like a fire. Â
âHey Tyler....â a boyish voice asked âAre you going to be alright?â
âRiverâ Tyler murmured, turning his head so he could look at the boy âIâll be fine... Donât worry...â
Something warm touched his arm and he flinched after a few seconds a blissful nothingness washed over him. Â
