Mimi loved gong to spend time with her grandparents. It was now farther away to visit once the family moved to Odaiba, but the ride was usually fun. Today, however, her grandfather was picking her up after a business meeting in Minato. She waited in Shibaura Park with her parents sitting on a bench, allowing Mimi to explore the area as she pleased.

It was a cloudy day, and it looked like it would rain at any moment. Mimi wore matching pink boots and raincoat just in case, though at some point she took off the raincoat as it hindered her movement, leaving it folded up on the ground nearby. Though probably due to the weather there weren’t many other children around, or people in general. A shame, as who knew how long grandpa’s meeting was going to be. Often his meetings ran a little late, and it was to be expected.

That was why when spotting someone her size, she made a beeline to them, hopping until she was directly behind them with a healthy pat on the shoulder.

“Oh, it’s you.” Osamu is here, for some reason. He’s supposed to be inside, but like, he hates people. So he’s hiding outside. He doesn’t want to be here any more than little Kahale seems to, really.

But he was dragged. Something about finding his partner at the party, like it’s some kind of mixer… “I didn’t know you were a chosen child. Welcome, I guess. What’s the little guy’s name?”

Ichijouji?

“What?” he looks over at the man before holding up the creature in his hand “I don’t know what it’s name is! It just- Keeps- following- me!” 

Every word is emphasized with Riley trying to shake the little creature off but it just manages to cling on and crawl up his arm like a koala.

“I’m not even part of this- this chosen- what ever business!” He says now trying to grab the creature. Said creature seemed to be giggling and having a great time, unaware of the annoyance it was causing the boy.

Riley looks at Ichijouji with almost a pleading look when it crawls on his face.

If anyone who didn’t know them was watching, they likely would have thought the two beasts were trying to kill each other-- and they would have been mostly wrong.

Lucemon motioned for Leviamon to go deeper with a beckoning motion of two fingers. Their motions were slowed by the pressure of the water all around them.

Leviamon gave a reluctant grumble. The angel was but a speck on the Great Gater’s nose, but she seemed keenly aware of their presence in spite of the massive size discrepancy. Her eyes narrowed, questioning of her master.

Lucemon’s face scrunched, lips pursed to keep the water out. Again, they motioned for her to go deeper. With a pause, Leviamon, rumbled, then dove downward again.

The pressure was as immense as the darkness that swallowed them, and for any creature not of this place it should have been fatal, but not for the small god. And they would make sure that not only could they survive it, but that they could fight despite it.

Of course, that day had not come just yet. And soon enough, the youngest Lord’s eyes grew unfocused and their skin paled. Their grip on Leviamon’s scales grew weak, and their mouth opened to let out the last of the air they had been holding in.

Leviamon’s eyes shot open, and in a second, she turned her massive body, and began swimming up. She could have reached the surface in seconds, but doing so would have only caused more damage. It took several painfully slow moments for her nose with the Lord of Pride rested on top to break the surface. Smoke rose form her nostrils as she took a breath, then attempted to shake Lucemon awake. She hated this-- she absolutely hated when he did this.

Finally, the pressure of their body repeatedly hitting the Great Sea God’s scales forced the water up from their lungs and stomach, causing them to cough and sputter awake. Lucemon dizzily gripped Leviamon’s muzzle as they regained their air and composure.

Don’t look at him like that!! It’s surprising for him!! Take, say, a Leomon. They’re all different, of course, once you get to know them. But at first glance, they all look very similar. And you can fairly accurately expect them to act similarly too- justice-bound and prone to sacrifice themselves. That’s just how digimons are. Bound by their codes.

Humans, though. Humans! Some are tall, some are short, some have brown fur, some have black fur, some are kind, some refuse you lower the price of the melonpan even if you’re an everyday customer, and some feel like home.

Not in a family way. Well, some do that too, Lowee supposes. But he meant more as in, some feel like him. Darkness, death, and all that.

Under some definition, Lowee supposes he is human now. But he still holds darkness in his core. He can’t help but feel a certain fondness, for those he perceives similar to him.

Point being: this dude? This dude right there? Yeah that one? Definitely one of his own.

“Hey!! Hey you!” He calls, waving his hand. He’ll find a good excuse to talk to them as he goes; right now he just wants to be around someone who doesn’t stink of light. “Are you from around here?”
