Notes to a younger Lu. The bravest thing you will ever say is… “Help” I don’t regret anything. They are all lessons but I would tell my younger self that help is good. It’s not weak. I’m not less of a man, a dad, a son, a brother, a lover or a business man. Being vulnerable is good. Asking for help is healthy. I am human & very flawed, but I still can be great & do wonderful things out of kindness, passion & a good heart. Men associate seeking assistance for a psychological or emotional problem with shame or weakness. It is sad, but true. Admitting a problem and seeking help is perceived as being weak. And what is seen as strong, tough, macho, and manly is avoiding problems, ignoring pain, and denying reality. But its not just you who suffers from your denial or choices. Everyone else like family, loved ones & friends are affected when you choose to not ask for help. And what kind of legacy are you leaving for younger men or your children. Will my daughter learn from my example? I will tell Olivia & any man out there that asking for help is smart, observant, aware, and wise! #wisdom #notestomyyoungerself https://www.instagram.com/p/CRk3AAPsoOD/?utm_medium=tumblr
