Not enough love being given Inter World. With all the cinematic universe’s going on now, what movie types do you think still aren’t getting the love they deserve? What is your favorite movie genre and do you think it gets enough love?

Many questions have been asked about Voldemort’s evilness and whether it’s a result of a broken childhood, or if he’s just insanely evil.

Some people think that it was simply because of his childhood. Merope Gaunt, his mother, only gave birth to him because she gave his father, Tom Riddle Sr., a love potion. Soon after, however, she stopped giving him love potions because she thought he’d stay for the child, but she was wrong as he was quick to abandon Merope and little Voldemort.

While giving birth to Voldemort, Merope died, and since he had no caring father, Voldemort had to spend the majority of his childhood life in an orphanage, and then Hogwarts as a member of Slytherin. He never had a real family or an intimate loving relationship with anyone, which is proved by the memory of Dumbledore visiting young Voldemort at the orphanage.

Considering the description of the orphanage, it’s crystal clear that Voldemort grew up in a society where coercion and power had their way. Dumbledore comprehends that at even a young age, so Voldemort thinks he has to defend for himself. In the absence of a family, Voldemort was unwilling to confide and trust in others and was convinced that power and authority were the most important things. When Dumbledore offered to accompany Voldemort to Diagon Alley, Voldemort snapped, “I don’t need you” as a result of not being able to have a family and experience love.

In contrast, Harry was very happy and thrilled to meet and lean on Hagrid his first day into the wizarding world. One major difference, however, between Harry and Voldemort was that Harry was able and willing to trust his friends. However, Voldemort remained isolated, consumed by the determination of gaining power.

Voldemort’s experience and time at Hogwarts is also significant in his uprising. As everyone knows, Slytherin has a reputation for being  populated with selfish, evil wizards. Undoubtedly, Voldemort’s experience at Hogwarts was a lot less welcoming than Harry’s was. Since power was all he had in mind, he was very determined to prove himself worthy. Upon realizing that he was a half-blood in a generally pure-blood society, he was even more desperate to prove himself worthy, as he left his father’s name and created the name of “Lord Voldemort”.

This only led him down the wrong path, the path of evil. He was soon known as the heir of Slytherin as he opened the Chamber of Secrets. Then, he smuggled information out of Slughorn on Horcruxes. It was seen in Voldemort’s desired that we wanted a pure-blood ruling class, which is why Draco calls Hermione mudblood throughout the series. He was then determined to go beyond others, so his soul became irreparably maimed. J.K. Rowling even admitted that if his mother had lived and loved him, everything would have changed. Love was the one thing Voldemort was missing, besides a nose that is.
