Not safe for work topic: Lucy not wearing a hard hat when visiting a construction site
Signs don’t make all that much sense these days, caution signs particularly. On one hand, she feels like she should be doing something, and the rest of her says no. So, she does not wear a hard hat in the construction site. No one else is there, it is not as if she will be setting a bad example.
There is scrabbling above her, the sound of claws - impossible sharp - digging loudly into the metal of the bones of the new building. Pipes clatter and before she can process all of it, one hits her, just right (or wrong) with a wet thunk.Â
It hurts. Things still hurt, perhaps it is only the memory of pain, but she cannot distinguish it. There is a hole in her head, a gaping oozing thing and she stumbles with her hand to it, watching thick red ichor leak through her fingers. She whimpers and holds tight to the wound, trying to remember how to knit it all back together.Â
