VALENTINE’S DAY PROMPTS // accepting // @notafossil​ sent —   💐 : give flowers to my muse

     Most women would probably swoon just at the sight of Steve Rogers with a bouquet of flowers for them, and they’d be right to. His pretty puppy blues and the gesture are both so sweet. And yet. “Thank you, Steve,” Elektra gives him a smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes and takes the bundle, though the gratitude seems genuine. This has happened before and it’ll probably happen again. “That’s very kind of you. Are you staying?” She’s already stepping off the doorway, leaving it an open invitation. “I’ll just put these in a glass until I can find a vase.”

     𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐏 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 𝐅𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐑 𝐔𝐏.  steely  blues  spark  dangerously,  lightning  against  a  dark  horizon.  he  holds  the  storm  inside  his  lungs  and  debates  whether  to  unleash  the  rain  or  swallow  it  down.                before  him  is  a  GRISLY  mess  of  bruises,  blood,  dirt  and  lacerated  flesh.  barnes  blinks,  expression  set  in  hardened  stone,  but  the  storm  inside  keeps  rolling,  keeps  building.         after  an  obvious,  drawn  out  beat  -  the  air  between  them  sparking  with  irritation  and  impatience,    despite  his  stony  expression    -    bucky  draws  in  a  breath  and  cocks  his  head.   ❛  well  -  it’s  a  bullet,  lodged  in  your  shoulder  -  so,  NOT GOOD.  ❜   he  dismisses,  bristling  with  sarcasm.  

     james  nods  at  the  nurse  with  thanks  as  she  leaves  to  fetch  a  medic  and  grab  the  materials  they  will  need,  and  then  circles  back  around  into  steve’s  direct  line  of  sight.  not  once  does  his  grim  expression  let  up.   ❛  you  think  just  cause  you  got  that  fancy  serum  in  your  body  now,  that  gives  ya  a  pass  to  be  reckless ?  ❜  back  in  the  states,  he  had  become  accustomed  to  black  eyes  and  split  lips,    the  occasional  broken  rib.  now,   thanks  to  erskine’s  experiment,   steve  seems  determined  to  step  up  his  game.  this  takes  pushing  his  limits  to  a  whole  different  level ...  and  the  behavior  infuriates  him.   

     THAT SHIELD SCREAMS.  it  paints  an  ugly,  glaring  target  on  the  back  of  his  best  friend  and  as  the  war  stretches  on,  that  target  only  grows  larger.   this  will  not  be  the  first  time  he  watches  someone  dig  a  bullet  out  of  steve’s  body.  the  only  reason  he  is  still  here  -  fighting  this  hellish  war  -  is  to  keep  this  man  SAFE.     &&  doing  just  that  is  only  getting  harder  and  harder  with  each  passing  day.     he  is  beginning  to  slip  up  and  sometimes  james  isn’t  sure  who  is  more  to  blame    -    himself,  the  fucking  hydra  nazis  hellbent  on  killing  his  best  friend  or  steve  himself,  the  numskull  who  is  far  too  gung  ho  to  run  headfirst  into  battle.    he  doesn’t  like  feeling  HELPLESS ...   and  ever  since  azzano ...  THAT IS ALL HE EVER FEELS.
