((Modern au)) [text]: 3am mcdonalds run?
The glow of a phone screen lit up the darkness in the room, and Vanitas pressed his palms into his eyes, rubbing the sleep- or lack thereof- out of them. The act of trying to sleep exhausting him more than being awake. His phone going off being a semi-welcome distraction to cut through the restlessness.
But who the fuck wanted him this early in the morning?
Probably his brother, 2 rooms down, giggling like an idiot at some meme he just felt was too good not to share. Hilarious. That or some stupid picture…If it was another cozy in-bed selfie, Vanitas swore he was going to go in there and strangle him.
He groped at the bedside table until he’d gotten hold of his phone. Bleary-eyed and blinking at the glow now in his face, he squinted to make out the sender.
T-
Vanitas sat up in interest. Maybe a hint of surprise.
Terra.
What the hell did he want? That sycophant…always sulking around his house, taking up his father’s attention. Daddy’s favorite. Not even one of his own sons. Leach.
For a moment, he considered ignoring it- whatever he wanted, it could wait.
3 in the morning…who did he think he was?
Probably sitting in bed staring down his phone with that dumb, distant stare. Lights on and nobody ever home. That idiot didn’t know any better.
So Vanitas took a look.
‘3am mcdonalds run?’
He had to be fucking joking.
He laid his head back down on the pillows, phone against his chest. Don’t even consider it.
Terra was shitty company.
Okay company at best when he didn’t talk. Or breathe.
Awful.
Fun to fuck with.
The worst.
Better than an empty room.
Legs moving on their own, Vanitas found himself pulling a shirt over his head and fishing the floor for a pair of pants. He was kind of hungry and, well, staring at the ceiling wasn’t doing much for him anyways.
