The interaction Garrus had with Shepard a few days ago was still fresh on his mind, keeping him awake, generating questions he didn't have the answer to. She had dared him to kiss her, and in his drunken state, he did it. The moment felt like it lasted a century, and for a few seconds he didn't think about the Reapers, the war, or anything else. It's like his mind and body had been transported, drifting off into the vast nothingness of outer space. He found himself touching his own mouth trying to remember the sensation of her supple lips against the tough, leathery skin of his mouth. The more time that passed, the weaker the memory of the feeling of their kiss became. It was something he wasn't ready to forget about.
So, he decided they needed to talk about this sober. With a sigh, the turian opened his omni-tool to send Shepard a message. He typed it out quickly, then erased it just as quickly as he worried it sounded like he was upset or angry with her. The last thing he felt towards her was angry. All he wanted to know was whether or not the kiss meant something. He had hoped that it wasn't simply just a dare, but he was ready to accept the possibility that that's all it was. She was a human, he was a turian--not a common pairing. The differences in their bodies alone would make any physical interaction a challenge.
After a few rewrites, the message was ready to be sent.
[MSG:] If you have a minute, I want to talk to you about something.
Wait, he thought, that seems like it's putting a lot of pressure on her to show up.
[MSG:] Nothing serious. Just want to talk.
It was definitely serious. At least, it was serious to him. Still, he didn't want to scare her off completely. What would he even say to her? Should he tell her that he's been so distracted by thoughts of her and that moment they shared that he's been unable to get any work done? No, that made it sound bad. He then realized he should probably tell her where to meet him in one last message.
[MSG:] I'm in the main battery whenever you get the chance.
There. The messages were sent. All he could do now was attempt to work on calibrations while he waited for a response from Shepard. If she said nothing, he would have to just let it go and accept that it was never meant to go anywhere. Secretly...he was hoping for more.
