Zoey's was the simplest one, Mira's the most fun one and Rumi's most complicated one (and painful, rip my fingers...) but they turned out really pretty in the end 😊

Maybe I'll fully accessorise them one day but right now I don't have the time nor the resources 😅

I know its a traditional accessories of women, but nowadays when both genders should be treated equal, also why not?

Rumi - her’s is very traditional and seems to embody her group. The black threads hint at her demon side and while the black probably depicts shame and sadness, she still includes it because it’s part of her. But the purple side is far more dominant and also has most of the decoration on that side, showing how she favors her human side more. It’s like the moon chasing away the dark. It depicts her focus on her mission as a huntress while also acknowledging the side of her she was ashamed of. It depicts her hope narrative of saving the world so she could free herself of that side of her. I wouldn’t put it past her to update it to depict more balance and perhaps replace the black with a different color thread like white with an iridescent rainbow overlay to match the patterns she has. Because the black thread doesn’t seem to truly match her personality, especially by the end of the movie.

Mira - it’s full of heart motifs and seems to have ‘pigtails’. But hers is all about her love for her found family. Rumi and Zoey are the center of her world. They are both sides of her and she will protect them with her life. They are her real family and she would do anything for them. She has long left her old life behind. She may have her jagged edges and dress like a punk but at the end of the day, she’s got nothing but love for her sisters. If she ever updates hers, it’s because someone has joined their family who means just as much to her as Zoey and Rumi. As long as she has her family, she has her place in the world.

Y'all stop asking Netflix to sell "KPDH merch" in the form of Norigae.

It's one thing for Netflix to be successful telling this Korean story made by Korean artists and storytellers, but another to profit from selling iconography from the culture while bypassing actual native artisans.

If you want a norigae, there are plenty of genuine pieces for affordable prices sold by actual Korean hanbok makers on Etsy, even Ebay. You don't even have to go to a brick-and-mortar hanbok tailor, or even navigate a Korean shopping site.

“I'm wearing my own creations as I am Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) tailor: traditional pattern Jeogori (top) and Baji (pants) in modern fabrics with traditional Korean shoes, tassels and ornaments called Norigae and Goreum and a modern version of the traditional Korean hat called a Ga. My outfit is inspired by 1840s European fashion pattern mixing.”

Spent this weekend learning Korean knot tying to make Rumi's norigae. I knew these were culturally significant, but I didn't realize just how much thought and care goes into each twist.

I have a newfound respect for people who make these regularly, and wish you pain-free fingertips because I could NOT get this string to go as tightly as I wanted.
