This was 15+ years ago, for one, in terms of inflation. My wedding dress cost $150, and we had a tiny reception at the church, with hors d’oeuvres and punch and A TORNADO for entertainment (no designer clothing and no dj and no open bar and no ice sculptures ftw). But my husband and I have never been big party people, so we were 100% okay with keeping the party situation to a minimum. It was right for us. If I could go back in time, I literally wouldn’t change a single thing, except for maybe spending less on the event as a whole. (Did we need FOUR kinds of hors d’oeuvres instead of three??? Probably not.)

it doesn’t get more “longfic” than 100k words now, does it? this one is one of those fics that have been recced a thousand times by this point, but i especially ADORE this fic for adorable soft sappy victor (and this was started well before episode 10!! probably ep 7 too!!!) and for having one of the most in-character yuuris i’ve ever read

(listen, i managed to finish watching episode I to VI of sw two hours before i managed to watch tfa in cinemas by skipping a lot and reading wikipedia and i still managed to understand this, so you can probs dive in without much prior knowledge. and the fic explains a lot of the relevant sw stuff without being clunky)

basically a star wars au but it focuses a lot on the space politics side with some Force stuff too (guess who) but it’s like the furthest thing from boring!!! i’ve reread chapter 2 too many times to count that it’s a bit embarrassing!!! i’ve had those ‘burying my head in my hands’ moments just to keep myself from screaming abt this

okay, it’s still on the first chapter, but it’s already good, and i’m a complete sucker for selkie aus. looking forward to how it turns out!!

Stargazer (T, oneshot, space au) and Gravity by Fahye (M, otayuri with side victuuri, oneshot, arranged marriage au, space au)

gahhhhh yuri on ice but in space!!! i love how the author managed to translate the sport into a space au and i definitely loved the world-building! and there were so many moments where i wanted to scream from the romantic tension in the first one, god. and the second one is more otayuri (arranged marriage au!!!), but it also has yurio’s pov of victuuri being saps and abt yuuri himself w/c i just so adored

Victor effing Nikiforov by shysweetthing (E, oneshot, canon divergence)

so what if victor managed to contact yuuri right after the banquet and then got to know each other much sooner instead of victor showing up in hasetsu months later? this is that fic. clueless!yuuri and victor, all the figure skaters knowing who exactly yuuri is and giving victor and yuuri so much loving shit for their developing relationship, victor and yuuri shit-talking each other before competitions, etc etc. please read this fic. IT’S HILARIOUS

@noonesaidwhy listen i downloaded the episode at 5 in the morning and watched it at six and i'm pretty sure that my sis and i woke the neighbors up with our screaming.

THE KISS. HOLY HELL I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT. I FIGURED THAT HYPOTHETICAL PAIRS SKATE/VICTOR SKATING STAMMI VICINO FOR YUURI IN THE LAST EPISODE WOULD BE ENOUGH FOR IT TO BE CANON BUT HOLY SHIT THEY DID THIS.

and everything in this episode was the perfect build up to it tbh. victor being shown to be a flawed human being and yuuri acknowledging this?? compared to how he still held victor up on a pedestal in episode 4 and before, this is incredible. two adults actually working through their problems through communication!!! 

victor offering to kiss yuuri (THIS WAS FORESHADOWING FOR ALL YOU HUG THEORISTS OUT THERE) like he offered to be yuuri's lover in episode 4 but yuuri's having none of that shit. i'm so glad they turned this particular romance trope on its head. and yuuri telling victor that he doesn't have to say anything, "just stay by my side!" GOODBYE FRIENDS I AM DEAD AND GONE.

the fact that the episode deliberately echoed the title of victor's song in episode 1 is still doing things to my heart. YUURI BEING THE ONE THIS TIME TO REASSURE VICTOR IS DOING THINGS TO MY HEART. the head boop how dare they.

AND YUURI CHANGING HIS LAST JUMP TO A QUAD FLIP TO SEE VICTOR'S REACTION!!!! i'm deceased!!!! THAT WAS LIKE A LOVE LETTER FROM YUURI TO VICTOR IN THE FORM OF A QUAD FLIP and how doesn victor react? HE KISSES YUURI IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE IN AN EVENT THAT'S PROBABLY INTERNATIONALLY BROADCASTED
