Little headcannon for whoever: reader moving away/sleeping in the couch because itâs too hot to cuddle on the bed
:3
A/N: I opted for Tamaki and ShĆto (Tamaki is explicitely omega!Tamaki, ShĆto can be read as either omegaverse or canonverse)
Tamaki
Youâd almost managed to fall back asleep so the feeling of something grabbing your hand made you jolt.
But it was only Tamaki, crouching by your side and giving you his big, concerned eyes, partly covered by his bangs as he lowered his head in concern.
âAre you okay? Are you feeling sick?â he asked and you smiled, squeezing his hand.
âIâm not sick, no. It was just very warm in the nest. I couldnât sleep.â
The words only made Tamakiâs brows furrow more.
âIâm sorry. Iâll fix it,â he assured you and hurried back to the bedroom.
Ah crap, had you just implied his nest was the problem? You rushed after him.
âSunshine, itâs fine,â you said as you walked over to help him retrieve the box of extra blankets from the top shelf of the wardrobe where you also stored some lighter ones for his heats in the summer time. "There's no problem with the nest. I promise."
"But..." he stopped, clutching the newly retrieved blanket in his arms.
"It's just very warm in general," you tried to explain. "It makes cuddling hard."
Tamaki looked like you weren't speaking Japanese. Apparently the concept of something hindering cuddling didn't compute. The fact that it was 4AM probably wasn't helping.
"Just-" you sighed with a small chuckle and grabbed the AC remote off the wall, making it blast cold air. You'd worry about the energy bill either. "Sorry, we can go back to sleep now."
Tamaki nodded wordlessly and took your hand in his to pull you back to the nest you made sure to praise before your omega snuggled back up to you.
ShĆto
Not even five minutes after youâd made yourself comfortable on the couch ShĆto was already traipsing into the living room after you, tilting his head in confusion. He did have something of a sixth sense for your whereabouts.
âDid I do something?â he asked as he looked down at your position on the couch and you shook your head with a sleepy smile.
âItâs just really hot, Sho. I canât sleep but I have that early shift tomorrow.â
ShĆto blinked and scanned you doubtfully as if trying to find an ulterior motive before finally nodding sagely and crawling right on top of you. Oh dear.
âSho, that wasnât the point of m-â You shivered as you felt his freshly chilly skin against yours. âOh, right⊠wanna move back to bed then?â
âNo, Iâm comfortable," he said, his dead weight on you proving his point.

The characters I thought about adding but ultimately decided against it since I think they'd either not have much of a reaction or would internalise it:

- insist he needs his space and does to a certain degree
- but if heâs at all stressed or upset heâll plant himself right on top of you to sleep and you better not mention that anythingâs off
- who are we kidding? Mention it and youâll get a grumbled âshut upâ but Katsuki will secretly be happy that youâre looking out for him
- heâll also communicate openly if heâs not ready to talk about it so just hold him tight and let him get the comfort he needs
- Later in the relationship he kind of gets used to the cuddling and will get grumpy if you donât initiate
- In general he prefers cuddling where the two of you face each other
âGood night,â you said softly as you tucked yourself in for the night, facing Katsukiâs turned back.
You got a grumpy-sounding âGânngh.â in return.
You blinked. As far as you could tell, you and Katsuki werenât fighting. In fact, youâd just had a wonderfully relaxing day in, that had ended in watching a movie and taking a bath together.
Had Katsuki taken offence to you drying him? No, heâd have given you shit for that immediately. Also, Katsuki really wasnât one for the passive aggressive treatment.
âKatsuki?â you asked, scooting close and leaning over to catch his expression.
He immediately snuggled back against you and his shoulders relaxed and you needed about a second of computation before pushing your face into a pillow to not actually upset him by laughing at him.
âWhatâs your problem?â Katsuki asked accusingly, pulling at your shirt.
You resurfaced from the pillow with only a fond smile to show for your amusement and pulled him in. âNothing. Come here.â
ââŠshut up,â Katsuki grumbled, too smart not to realise what heâd given away, but cuddled up to you anyway.
Izuku:
- cutie is so nervous about it at the beginning of the relationship
- his first instinct is to lie on top of you but he canât do that. What if heâs too heavy or seems too needy or demanding?
- heâll just lie next to you stiffly and be a nervous wreck while internally wishing he could be the biggest cuddle bug with you
- heâll discover later in the relationship that he actually prefers spooning
It was a little awkward. Okay, it was very awkward. You had suggested sharing a bed for the night, just to try how the two of you felt about it and Izuku had agreed. Heâd been all shy and happy about it too so youâd been relieved.
Except now be seemed very uncomfortable, lying next to you with all his limbs tucked as closely to himself as they could be, as if trying to avoid touching you.
Fortunately you chanced a glance over and smiled when you saw his bright red face. His head must be so loud right now, you thought as you scooted over.
âIzuku, is it alright if I hold you?â you asked softly, reaching an arm out.
Izuku let out something of a soft screeching sound but nodded frantically so you bit back a chuckle and brought an arm around him, scooting behind him. Spooning was probably a safe bet, right?
Surprisingly, Izuku relaxed almost immediately. Though he still didnât move much. Seems adjustments were up to you for now. You were sure heâd get used to it eventually.
ShĆto:
- touch starved.
- runs surprisingly cold despite his quirk
- wonât initiate it himself at first but will melt when you pull him close the first time
- Heâs so happy to cuddle anywhere: bed, couch, floor, anywhere the two of you can fit together and plenty of places where you canât
- The more you can envelop him the better so heâs definitely another candidate for spooning
- Will start demanding cuddles so donât expect to retain your private space if you teach him itâs okay to ask to be cuddled
The door clicked as ShĆto entered the bedroom, finished with his bath.
You looked up to catch the sight of your partnerâs healthily flushed cheeks from the heated water and smiled before looking back down at your book. Youâd already bathed and wanted to finish your current chapter before the two of you went to sleep.
ShĆto settled in next to you, burrowing under the blankets.
âShĆ, is it okay if we-â You meant to ask to keep the lights on for ten more minutes but both your arms were already being moved around your sleepy partner. Thank you, hero training, for giving you quick reflexes to bookmark your page. ââŠI was going to finish this chapter.â
âYou can,â ShĆto mumbled while wiggling further into you and placing his arms over yours on his stomach, though he graciously let you free the arm that held your book.
You snorted softly before placing a kiss on ShĆtoâs nape, adjusting a little so you could finish reading over his head.
Pairing: ShĆto Todoroki x Reader
Summary: ShĆto needs to experience more down to earth things and the joys that the change of seasons can bring and youâre all too happy to show him. For today flower picking is on the agenda.
Warnings: None I can think of except that itâs sappy

Summer was a beautiful season throughout. Early summer had always been of course. The bees buzzing, the clear skies and green trees, strawberries growing. Hoodies had to finally be put to rest but there was something about just throwing on a shirt too.
Then the middle of summer had days at the lake, ice cream and watermelons and the feeling of the summer night air after a hot day. It also had overbearing heat of course but that was no longer a concern of yours, happily plastered to ShĆtoâs side all day and letting it cool you as you needed.
So you were holding his right hand as the two of you walked to a flower field you wanted to show him.
ShĆto had never cut his own flowers before, rich kid that he was, and it was really a shame, you thought. He hadnât gone strawberry picking either and had never carved his own pumpkins or even made a snow bunny for that matter but those youâd take care of when the time came. And you had plenty of plans to introduce him to all those seasonal joys of course.
For now you watched as his eyes lit up ever so slightly, that little twinkle he got despite his passive expressions, when the field came into view. Seas of yellow sunflowers, purple lavender and pretty little hanashobus coloured the landscape and you grinned when you confirmed that ShĆto liked it. Heâd always been a sucker for pretty things. It made gifting quite easy and very satisfying.
âAnd we can pick the ones we like?â he asked and you delighted in the awe in his tone.
âYeah, we just throw some money in that can afterwards depending on which ones we picked,â you explained, leading ShĆto to a little basket with knives for the cutting and handed him one. âAny idea which ones youâd like for our apartment yet?â
ShĆto gave you a little dumbfounded look, his eyes jumping between the different rows of flowers before he shook his head.
You gently rubbed the back of his hand and gave him an encouraging smile, about to make a suggestion of your own when ShĆto spoke up again after all.
âI like the ones with the many petals,â he said, pointing to the dahlias and you couldnât help but grin and give him a kiss. Yellow dahlias were the first flowers you had ever given him, platonically back then, and consequently the first flowers ever that he had received (apart from hospital visits anyway).Â
âMe too,â you agreed and the two of you walked over to the only row of flowers that didnât look neatly colour coded.Â
You breathed in the pleasant summer breeze as you watched butterflies, bees and other pollinators sitting on and flying around the open centre variants of the dahlias you were walking between, just enjoying the sight for now.
You also kept a subtle eye on ShĆto though, watching for any indicators that he might have a colour preference.
But you didnât even have to look. He squeezed your hand every time he let his fingers brush over the petals of a yellow flower. ShĆto could be so lovely and sentimental and for you he rarely seemed to hold back. Your partner was a little sap who loved to be treated to gifts and experiences like these, he just needed to be shown that that was okay.
But his eyes also kept lingering on the red ones. Whether that was because of their vibrant colour or because ShĆto associated them with romance didnât matter because either way, they matched the ones you had your eyes on perfectly.
âGo ahead,â you encouraged him softly when he lingered at a particularly vibrant little red dahlia.
He gave you another look before nodding and leaning down to get as much of the stem as he could without hurting another flower and cut before holding the flower up for you to smell.
âBeautiful,â you said, keeping eye contact with him. âI have an idea for a bouquet if you donât mind?â
ShĆto nodded eagerly. You could tell he was enjoying himself but was also a little aimless and youâd happily provide some guidance.
âLook how beautiful these are,â you said as you held another dahlia, brushing your thumb over its petals. It was another red one, but one with white tips, the colours harmonising beautifully together, and not even just because you were biased towards that particular colour combination.
You sent ShĆto a grin and he turned away with a bashful smile. It was lovely how freely cheesy you could be with your partner, never getting teased for it, only receiving the most delightful of responses.
âArenât those a bit of an obvious choice?â he asked and you shrugged, already crouching down to cut the flower youâd shown him.
âHow fitting,â you said as you stood again, holding the flower up to his face and wiggling your eyebrows. âSo were you, Sho.â
You were treated to another little smile and a kiss to the cheek before ShĆto pointed to some white dahlias off to the side.
âWe should add those too,â he suggested and you grinned and nodded.
âYouâre right. Theyâd look perfect with these.â
By the end the two of you had enough flowers to fill at least two vases, probably. You honestly werenât sure where to put all of them but you just hadnât been able to put a stop to it whenever ShĆto excitedly dragged you to another flower he found particularly pretty. ShĆto lighting up was a rare enough occurrence still and it was one you wanted to treasure and nourish.
âThank you for bringing me here,â he said as you threw in the right amount of coins to pay for the flowers while ShĆto picked the excess leaves from the stems.
âOf course, Sho.â You stepped back from the money can and threw your arms around ShĆto from behind. âThank you for joining me.â
